Sure: Make sure you have washed the cut well with brisk running cool water and clean with mild soap. Pat dry and apply the cream twice a day. Watch for excessive redness or pain over the next few days - if develops see your MD. Make sure your finger movement is ok. Cuts by very sharp items like knives and glass can sometimes be deeper than they look and can damage underlying tendons.

Low risk: The chance of infection from this sort of cut is low, especially is the fork did not penetrate deeply. If there was any detergent in the water, the risk is even lower. Even a trace amount of common dishwashing detergent would kill most infection-causing bacteria. I don&#x27;t think you need mupirocin; just keep the wound clean.

No: There is no ointment that is stronger but I advise you to be very careful as Diabetics have a high risk of having complicated infections that may not be treatable with just ointment.

Treat and Watch.: There is a possibility that the skin is inflamed and not infected. If you have been treating the toe this way and have seen little to no improvement, then maybe it is time for a change. Non-infected rashes might respond better to cortisone based cream. It is possible to alternate applications and see if it starts to clear up. Watch for increasing severity, in which case, have it looked at.
