Depends...: What are you treating? If just indigestion, then antacids consumed 1 ; 3 hours after a meal and at bedtime may be helpful in the majority of patients, but may be too high a dose for a pregnant one. Don't know what your zantac (ranitidine) dose is either, ; perhaps with consent from your obstetrician this medication can be optimized. Stick with gerd diet and behavior restrictions (see prior healthtap answers.

Yes but: If you need to take Zantac regularly to control your symptoms, it may be a good idea to check with your doctor and consider getting an upper endoscopy.

Category B: Zantac is considered a category B medication, so it is considered safe to take during pregnancy by the FDA.  You should always discuss any medications, over the counter, herbs, supplements etc with your OB however, because sometimes there are interactions.

Not monitored: Zantac is not a substance of abuse and would not need to be tracked for elimination from the body. Most of it would be out of your system in a day or so.
Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

: Nonprescription maximum dose is 20mgs twice a day. 40 mgs twice a day is maximum dose for prescription strength purposes. If symptoms aren't relieved with 20 mgs twice a day for 10 days, you should consult a gastroenterologist for accurate diagnosis and proper treatment.

can i take zantac while taking dexilant (dexlansoprazole)?

Stomache and gas pai: Yes , preferrably not at the same time.
Both meds work on different mechanisms.
Dexilant is a stomach acid pump inhibitor , should be taking before meal.
Zantac works on the anti-histamine receptor in the stomach, also should take it before meal.
If you been advised to take both medicines for your stomach pain, take the ppi before the biggest meal of the day (or the most symptomatic time) first.

2 different issues: (1) Zantac (ranitidine) is an inhibitor of nerve impulses from brain to upper 2/3 stomach to secret hydrochloric acid; can ↓ secretions by about 100 fold, out of million fold range. (2) Probiotics are concentration of microorganisms/bacteria believed to be beneficial to healthier intestinal function as part of the human biome. Confusion between the two different issues?

Yes: As long as you wait one hour after taking the levothyroxine, you should have no problem then taking zantac (ranitidine).

will taking zantac effect my lipitor (atorvastatin)? if so how far apart should i take these?

Accepted Answer

Drug interaction: Zantac can increase the drug levels of lipitor (atorvastatin). Taking them apart will not help. It is better to ask your doctor what to take for heartburn while you are on the lipitor (atorvastatin). It is better to avoid zantac while on lipitor (atorvastatin) unless you are only taking it occasionally.
