i am taking doxycycline 100 mg 2xdaily. on my 2nd 10 day run. on the 1st run, i had severe leg cramps & now cramping is back again on 2nd run?

??: I would doubt that doxicycline is the cuase of the leg cramps 

recently though doxicycline which for years has been a very inexpensive generic drug has become very expensive and apparently available form only one manufacturer according to the pharmacist i usually work with 
this seems a sad situation to me 

varicose veins can cause leg pains.

Urgent care: Doxycycline is not a good choice for ear and sinus infections..period.  Youe doctor must have someone covering his practice..call them and tell them about what your experiencing.

Fluids, rest, NSAIDs: Assuming these cramps are after dancing, because if they are coming while you're dancing the treatment is different and you should probably see your doctor.  Any one who performs vigorous exercise, including dancing, is no stranger to muscle aches and cramps.  Hydration before, during and after is important.  Ice might help with pain but you should cool down first before using ice or a cold shower.

I would make : Sure your circulation is okay perhaps thru arterial dopplers and if okay consider taking magox 400mg this is a magnesium supplement sold without prescription.

Magnesium: Try a magnesium supplement at bedtime
see if that works.

You can take...: ...yourself to the doctor so (s)he can find out WHY you have leg cramps. Probably benign, but could be serious. Do you ask, "How do I get rid of that whining noise my car makes?" or do you take it to a mechanic to find out what's causing the noise so that he can fix it? Same for your body as for your car: First diagnosis, THEN treatment. Always.

May not need vitamin: Before you start taking any supplement, make sure you have enough water in your body. Drink 2qts daily, everybody knows that already. Now, duplicate everything else you drink that isn't milk or fresh juice. If you drink a can of soda pop, drink 12 more ounces of water. Get your body cleaned out. Then if you still have leg cramps, see your doc.

Try it: Rest for the muscles might help but you should not rely on it alone as the muscles do get lazy and weak if youdo not getupand walkarounddaily.

if you take magnesium oxide to help with leg cramps, does it make your muscles weak?

Yes, if take too muc: Magnesium oxide 420mg once/twice daily should not make muscles weak but if you take large amounts and have kidney failure, your magnesium level may get very high and this may be dangerous / cause weakness.  It is possible that 420mg once daily could cause symptoms of weakness, but I have not seen this.
