Coffee ; medications: There is a handful of medications that coffee can interfere with.  You can speak to your pharmacist about any specific medication you are taking to inquire whether coffee interferes with its absorption, but as a general rule it is better to not drink coffee for about 2 hours after taking medication.  Caffeine can affect the metabolism of tegretol and vice versa, but the interaction is minimal.

is there anyway that drinking an unusually large amount of water after taking medicine could dillute it or cause it to be less effective in any way? and also 3-4 cups of coffee amongst all the water?

Accepted Answer

: Water does not interact adversely with your oral medications, and typically coffee does not cause medication impairment either.  But some folks add creme or sugar, so this addition might affect some medications, which are advised to be taken "on an empty stomach".

Management needed: That blood pressure is dangerous though one isolated reading does not a diagnosis make. Needs to be followed by physician. Lifestyle changes, diet and exercise can manage blood pressure over long haul but if that reading is consistent he needs medication for now to get acute control.

There are many potential causes including a medical condition such as a thyroid problem, a problem with fluid retention, and other medical problems; or your calorie intake has really began to over take your calories burned.  Getting a good medical check up can be a good ace to start.

Depends: If you are taking somethings without a decongestant, there is no reaction with coffee. Decongestants on the other hand can make you shaky and raise your blood pressure and so does coffee. Having both is not such a good idea.

If your pressure is well controlled with medication, the temporary increase in pressure after caffeine intake may not be a serious problem, but consult your cardiologist about his/her recommendations, as his/her direct knowledge of your condition is critical to your continued health.
