Accepted Answer

Yes: Unless you have a complication, most patients report little to no ill effects after having a root canal treatment.  You may be sore on that tooth, so try not to eat on it for several weeks after the treatment is done.

Accepted Answer

Run and get a crown!: The longer you wait, the greater the chance your tooth will become reinfected. Bacteria from your saliva will leak into the root canal space and cause the root canal to fail.  You will loose your tooth or have to re treat the root canal and pay for it all over again!  just because it doen't hurt does not mean you can ignore it.  It is top priority if you want to save the tooth.

Depends: It depends upon what the dentist finds wrong.  The possibilities include watching the tooth, apex surgery, retreating the root canal, or extraction.

Interesting: It seems that the success rate for implants is about the same as for root canal tx., or maybe even a little higher.
If the tooth would need a crown after the endo, you may be better off with the implant.  The costs would be close.

Accepted Answer

Yes, but depends: It depends on how you feel afterward.  Most of my patient (&gt;90%) go to work the next day without any issue.  Only about 1-2% are what we called flare-up cases.  These require a second office visit for some incision and drainage or decompression.  Or, they may need prescription for additional medication. Work with your doctor with the schedule if you are concerned about not being able to work.

Inflammed or infecte: Also may mean sensitivity to heat or cold, which is indicative of a possible root canal problem. Several previous answers on this topic should be reviewed.

Usually yes: After root canal surgery, you should be able to return to work quickly. However, this will also depend on the type of anesthesia used. Consult with your oral surgeon or dentist.

Postoperative pain: You should be able to work as long as your tooth is not severly inflamed or badly infected. The great majority of patients are able to return to wok the following day.

Accepted Answer

Immediately: You should not have to wait to return to work after root canal treatment.  You may be numb for a while, so be careful not to bite your cheek or lip.  Pain should be controlled with over the counter Ibuprofen or acetaminaphen. 
If you were sedated (general anesthesia or "twilight sleep")during the root canal treatment, you should  not drive and probably wait till the next day to return to work.
