when lie down i hear & feel cracklings sounds when breathing in. have gerds,, non smoker, tend to get bronchitis yearly but fine now,possible causes?

Crackles: As the next step, I'd consider trying to locate the area of the body you think it is originating in. For example, if it sounds like the crackling is in your ear, then it could be an ear wax issue, or maybe you have retained water in your ear from a shower/bath. Higher pitched crackles come from the ear - lower pitched crackles radiate from elsewhere in the body. Hope this helps

i have ankylosing spondylitis, gerd, lpr, and a motility disorder. friday, i had an upper endoscopy w/stricture dilation.  i also have moderate chronic bronchitis. never smoked.  could the other conditions have caused/worsened the bronchitis?

CF and PCD : Cystic Fibrosis and Primary or Secondary ciliary dyskinesia may be considered. A culture of airway secretions/sputum and imaging should be included in your work up. Monitor your temperature and if there is shortness of breath or a cough, please have a COVID 19 screening test.  Autoimmune panels may be useful in detecting auto-antibodies which may contribute to your respiratory symptoms.

after upper resp infec, had crackle,treated w/zpac, inhaler. had an x-ray and i'm told i have chronic bronchitis. lots of mucus always.gerd related?

Drink fluids and rest. It may take two weeks to resolve. GERD and aspiration may worsen symptoms. Take a proton pump inhibitor over the counter and sleep with two pillows. Please see your physician for follow up.

i recently had both strains of the flu with bronchitis in between. i can't sing for long as i don't seem to have my full range/wind. also, my gerd has picked up a bit as well. i saw an earlier answer about rest, inhaler,and fluids. any other tips etc?

: The inflammation in the lungs from infections can sometimes take 1-2 months to resolve. For the GERD (which can also affect the breathing) - sleeping with your head elevated 30-45 degrees can be helpful; check with your doctor for medication interactions - you can consider taking a PPI (such as omeprazole) or an H2 blocker (Pepcid/famotidine) for 4-6 weeks.

i have reflux, gerd and ibs chronic bronchitis. if i can get those other things under control. i should be able to heal completely. i am healthy never sick except this last year. i have gotten asthma and spit out mucus. i am 43 & don't smoke why???

Maybe: If the reflux and GERD is causing stomach acid to “back up” from your stomach down your bronchial tubes, then your bronchitis and cough will continue until the GERD is fixed.  Potentially serious (over the long term)

GERD Lung infect: Some with GERD get acid into lungs, and aggravate asthma.  I would recommend putting the head legs of your bed on 8 inch blocks (Bed Bath Beyond) to see if that helps GERD Lung Asthma. Gravity never sleeps. Also get your BMI down to 25 and much may go away. Discuss with your team and read uptodate.com about GERD and lung infections, etc.

31, f, obese. bad gerd. had nasal/throat congestion cough. x-ray to rule out bronchitis. x-ray at hospital ( sitting down) said "slight prominence the pulmonary vascularity without overt pulmonary edema. doc said it " looked good". what does it mean?

: A radiologist once told me that interpreting chest xrays is one of the most difficult chores in radiology. The best technique is to take a chest xray with the patient standing with a real deep breath. An obese person sitting for the X-Ray often gives the illusion of congested pulmonary vascularity. I'll bet that if you had the xray standing&amp;taking a full deep breath, it would be perfectly normal.

: Antacids such as mylanta,zantac,prilosec (all are no OTC). Avoid eating late. You may need to sleep with a few pillows to elevate your head. The sphincter that helps block digestive fluid from going from the stomach to the esophagus is too relaxed.

GERD  bronchiectasis: Bronchiectasis does not usually cause gastroesophageal reflux. Acid reflux can cause throat irritation, postnasal drip and hoarseness, as well as recurrent cough, chest congestion and lung inflammation leading to asthma and/or bronchitis/ pneumonia. Ger can cause bronchiectasis by aspiration of  food material secondary to reflux causing lung destruction and bronchiectasis.
