: Diabetes type 1, insulin dependent is caused by autoimmune destruction of beta cells of pancreas. Diabetes type 2 is caused by relative deficiency of insulin compared to needs. By fasting, you induce secretion of Gherlin , making you feel hungry and decreases acid secretion. When you fast, you should only drink nonalcoholic drinks. Frequent fasting neither causes nor cures diabetes. Hope it helps

: Never seen a study of this.  But if yo gain weight and your BMI gets above 25 them you are at increased risk of manifesting DM if you also inherited the right or wrong genes. Look at your family tree for diabetes and feed your roots right.?

concerned about diabetes. drank 30oz of water in 1.5hrs and peeing every 30-45 min for a couple hours. was tested 9mo ago and not diabetic. just started doing 16:8 intermittent fasting. could fasting (kerosine) cause extra water loss/more urine?

: If you have concern about being diabetic, get your fasting blood tested for glucose at an accredited laboratory.
If you are pre-diabetic, losing 5-10% body weight and exercising at least 150 minutes/week could ward of deterioration of glucose metabolism.

Generally yes: Hi. Neuropathy is the most poorly understood diabetic complication, and I've seen weird cases. Nevertheless, if your fasting glucose and and A1c are normal, I'd say the chance your neuropathy is due to diabetes is very, very low.

can fasting cause low blood sugar in non diabetics? i do not have diabetes but always get low blood sugar when i don't eat. i do not have any pancreatic disorders?

: How low blood sugar are you talking about? Symptomatic hypoglycemia is a pathologic condition, fasting does not cause that because our body has its own mechanism to protect you from symptomatic hypoglycemia.

my last lab showed trace ketones in my urine but my fasting glucose is always perfect. what could cause ketones besides diabetes? is trace bad?

No: Diabetes is related to carbohydrate metabolism and the pancreas release of insulin, and it not being effective. It is located in the abdomen on the mid left.

The thyroid gland in the neck is under control of the hypothalamus, pituitary axis in the brain. These hormones control a lot of different physiologic functions.

The two are unrelated. Good question. Complicated physiology.

can a uti cause glucose in the urine. it was seen on dipstick. have never been told i was diabetic. my fasting glucose is always been low and no symptoms of diabetes. i did have a lot of sugary drinks and not the best food this weekend before test?

Glucose in urine: In rare cases i have seen glucose, especially low amounts like 50 -100  in urine in individuals who were not diabetic. You may be pre- diabetic though . Would treat the infection and follow up with  Hgb A1c and repeat urine glucose. I think some of the individuals who I have seen the positive glucose negative  diabetes  just had a low threshold for spilling sugar, which  may be the case here.

my friend who has diabetes and on meds has his fasting normally in range but pp is high.why is it happening.what shud he do.help?

Diabetes: The beta cells of the pancreas are wearing out. Please see the health care provider for assessment as to whether a medicine to help post prandial sugar elevation would be a helpful addition.

Already checked: While you did not have an oral glucose tolerance test done in a lab, the fasting and post-lunch testing you did should convince you that you do not have diabetes or prediabetes.  If you did your fasting BG would be &gt;100 and after eating it would have risen to at least 140.   If you are overweight you should try to lose weight but as of now definitely no diabetes.
