Not likely: Exposure to cold temperatures is not known to cause infertility.

i have a cyst on my right ovary and fluid in my pelvis. can this cause infertility?

Ovarian cyst: This happens often and should resolve without complications.

scan shows the left ovary has a 3cm echogenic cyst, probably a haemorrhagic follicular cyst.

Accepted Answer

It shouldn't: Hemorrhagic cysts are very common causes of pelvic pain, and not related to infertility. Also, your cyst is not large enough to typically cause ovarian torsion. You can get a repeat ultrasound six weeks later to show that the cyst is resolving.

i always ovulate from my left ovary (even 3 months in a row proved by ultrasound). how common it is to ovulate from one ovary only? could this lead to some ovary fatigue, and hence cause my infertility?

: I would discuss with your ultrasonographer/GYN.  Ask how often does this occur in women like me who have grown up here I have grown up. Check with other women in your family.

Ovarian cyst: It is possible that the ovary  that was operated on is now dysfunctional thus reducing your chances of getting pregnant.

will ruptured appendix cause scarring on ovaries and cause infertility? i have read that it does and have not been successful trying to conceive after 4 months

Accepted Answer

Possibly yes: A ruptured viscus like the appendix can be messy stuff, and cause considerable fibrosis.  It's possible such scarring could negatively impact your fertility, but a fertility specialist is best equipped to address this and other possiblities.  Don't give up trying to conceive after just 4 months however.

2cm simple cyst on left ovary unchanged after 5 mos! dr is not phased. i have very heavy periods w/clotting. cyst related? can it cause infertility?

Hmm: 2cm simple cysts are usually benign/functional and should not be associated with your flow, nor cause infertility. Would be more concerning for twisting of the ovary if it were &gt;4-5cm. 
  The only thing that might bring together ovarian cyst, heavy menses, and infertility might be endometriosis but they are usually not simple cysts per se.

diagnosed with endometriosis of the ovaries and was wondering if it causes infertility and is surgery the only way to cure this?

Accepted Answer

Decreases fertility: Endometriosis makes it take longer to get pregnant due to it causing scar tissue and to chemicals that the endometriosis implants put out.  Surgery or treatment with depolupron or taking birth control pills constantly can suppress endometriosis and make it easier to get pregnant.  But endometriosis is a chronic condition that will keep coming back until menopause.

Generally not: Ovarian cysts can disrupt your cycle and delay but not prevent pregnancy. Certain types of cysts such as endometriomas are associated with infertilit.

i have polycycstic ovaries. also, myperiod are sometimes irregular. will i be infertile?

Accepted Answer

PCOS: no but you need to treat the PCOS such as with glucophage (metformin) to improve insulin sensitivity which can help with menstrual irregularities
