Hard to advise: Not feasible to provide reliable advice but if you have carpal tunnel syndrome not usually urgent.   Your primary doctor could evaluate and advise.  It is your choice how fast to proceed

NCS, MRI, PE: Nerve conduction study helps diagnose carpal tunnel syndrome. MRI cervical spine helps identify the pinched nerves in the neck.     A good medical exam is equally important in making the correct diagnosis.

Neck problem: CTs can hurt all the way up to the shoulder but not the neck. Think Cervical radiculopathy. What did the pre-operative EMG show?

No: by definition the issues of CTS are at the site where the nerves enter through the wrist (carpal) bones. Abnormalities in the further up the arm may have some shared symptoms, but it would not be called CTS.

No: Carpal tunnel syndrome is a set of symptoms that includes tingling, numbness or pain in the fingers.

No.: Carpal tunnel causes symptoms in your hand and wrist primarily. In some cases the pain may radiate into the forearm, but an inability to move your arm would not be expected.

: Not the carpal tunnel per se, but bad posture and lack of exercise is a more likely explanation for your symptoms. Regular aerobic exercise would help. Exercise 150 minutes/week at an intensity sufficient to induce sweating. Drink enough water so that your urine is mostly colorless.

May not be ulnar: The ulnar nerve can cause pain through out its distribution in your arm, but your pain does not fit only ulnar pain. Carpal tunnel syndrome is related to your median nerve. To have both median nerve and ulnar nerve issues, you most likely have an issue upstream of those nerves not specifically with the median or ulnar, either brachial plexus issue or cervical radiculopathy. Emg should be done.

No: Upper arm pain after ct surgery of any type is not normal
my be a result of the type of anesthesia ( block) or from the tourniquet place on your arm.
If it doesn't resolve in a few weeks be sure to discuss it with your surgeon at your next post-op followup.

Recheck: Carpal tunnel syndrome will not cause numbness in the upper arm or leg. You need to be reevaluated.
