Change bra: It is unlikely to be inflammatory breast cancer. Try wearing a different type of bra, or better yet going without a bra, say over this long weekend to see if that helps.

Unlikely: It is very unlikely that you have breast cancer, however, it is not feasible to say what it is without examining the lesion. If the lesion does not go away in a week, or gets bigger, or if it bleeds or develops a discharge, or you get fever, it would be prudent to see your doctor or go to a hospital emergency room.

hi doctors. i am a 62 year-old male. i think that i have gynecomastia. in addition, my left nipple intermittently feels tender. what do i do about this? how do i make sure that it is or is not make breast cancer? how is it treated? does it go away?

: While male breast cancer is unusual, it does happen and only proper evaluation and tests can exclude it as a possibility. Gynecomastia can also be a sign of other systemic disorders. Go see your doc and discuss all these issues in detail. Treatments depend on the diagnosis, which is not clear from these symptoms.

: Fatigue is a common side effect of radiation and a notorious sign of progressing cancer. Radiation will help stabilize metastatic lesions and time will offer eventually the delineation between radiation side effect ( transient effect) and progressing cancer, persistent effect.

: Br. Ca with people on low dose Finasteride is not prove. It can cause br. enlargement on long term use. Suggest try other alternatives for hair loss

You can start with: Your primary care provider. He or she can initiate evaluation. If indicated breast surgery specialist, general surgeon,  radiation oncologist etc can be consulted.

is it possible to go 6 years without knowing you have breast cancer?

Rare: At 24 yrs of age a malignant lesion usually presents with  a nodular mass and over a several yr. period of time the mass would have grown significantly in size to be easily identified if not associated with metastasis.  Most lesions at your age are hormone dependent and grow rapidly with estrogen stimulation.  Mammograms cant be performed due to density of tissue and sensitivity to RT.from mammo.

First there's the: Lump, then the exam by the doctors, mammogram, ultrasound, and biopsy. If your breasts are dense, MRI may be indicated. If they are not, MRI likely should not be done and finds some things that lead to wild goos chases.

Pain isn't: A common feature of cancer, but it brings attention to lumps, their size, affect on the skin, nipple, that warrant imaging and biopsy. Come and go pain is not the issue, learning self exam, regular visit, and annual mammo may be a plan.

The course: of male breast cancer is similar to that of female breast cancer.  As tumors grow with time, there is an increasing chance of metastases  and a poorer prognosis.
