Rare: At 24 yrs of age a malignant lesion usually presents with a nodular mass and over a several yr. period of time the mass would have grown significantly in size to be easily identified if not associated with metastasis. Most lesions at your age are hormone dependent and grow rapidly with estrogen stimulation. Mammograms cant be performed due to density of tissue and sensitivity to RT.from mammo.

Possible: Many breast cancers are diagnosed months or years after they start. Ideally the sooner they are diagnosed the better the outcome of treatment. After diagnosis of breast cancer is made, it is very difficult to know exactly when it started. Regular clinical exams, mammography as recommended by your healthcare provider as well as breast self examination would make early detection more likely.
