Probably at risk: If by sharing utensils you mean she uses the same utensil to eat her food IMMEDIATELY after the HIV positive person has placed food in their mouth &amp; there&#x27;s no cleaning of that utensil in between uses then, I believe she&#x27;s at risk. But if by share you mean that the same utensils are being used by everyone  BUT they&#x27;re also being cleaned &amp; dried between uses by either of them then, much less risk .

Bad teeth: Perhaps. As a dentist I get a little sick just thinking about how some people let their teeth rot away and how it could effect their general health, self esteem, eating ability and lost time from work or school. When I get these types of questions, I picture in my mind the eventual type of situation you see in the adjacent photo.

Yes/No: Teeth are formed. So, if the teeth are bad - defective, then it had to be from when they were formed as a child.  If the teeth are okay but are deteriorating - it may be more from habit/diet than a condition. If it is a gum issue - then yes a systemic condition can affect the gums.  The only other thing that could affect the teeth - is acid - so whether from soft drinks or reflux - be careful.

Not really: I am unaware that transplant recipients who take immunosuppressive drugs including tacrolimus will have trouble with dental hygiene; as long as you listen to your dentist and brush and floss your teeth as instructed, and get timely examinations.

Yes, and low: Clenching your teeth can result in tension in the muscles of the jaw, head, and neck.  Commonly one will have headaches, tightness in the temples, neck stiffness, and sore teeth as symptoms.  
As for meningitis, the likelihood it would result from decayed teeth is exceptionally low.  That doesn't mean, however, that you should ignore the decayed teeth because other serious infections can result.

Oil of clove: Oil of clove may reduce discomfort from toothache, try a dipping a q-tip and gently saturate the tooth with clove oil.  This is at most a temporary &quot;fix&quot; so see your dentist asap!

Not true!: That is an unfortunate stereotype which has no validity. Bad breath is a symptom of poor oral hygiene and poor diet. It may also reflect poor gastrointestinal health.
