Hope noth: Follow the advice from the surgeon who did the repair.  Generally  hernias do not return, but they can under certain conditions.  Your surgeon is in the  best spot to advise you

i had umbilical hernia repair with mesh 5 months ago. i am a runner. recently i have felt 2 bumps near my belly button. has my hernia come back? :/

Unlikely but see MD: Unlikely the "two bumps" are recurrent hernia (mesh failure is very RARE. However seeing your surgeon for an office visit would be best.

Unknown : It could be related to suture material or mesh, but is likely not a problem. On occasion, sutures can become infected years later. You would see redness, which would progress to a small opening that will drain pus. If that happens, see your surgeon for an exam. Hope this helps!

Sometimes.: Umbilical hernias are small holes in the abdominal wall at the belly button through which the inner layer of the abdominal wall, the peritoneum, protrudes through to create a sac.  This sac has many pain fibers and is often sensitive to the touch, especially if it is difficult to reduce.  Your baby, regardless of their age, will let you know if it hurts, typically by grimacing and crying.

is now six weeks after my umbilical hernia surgeryi have no pain im back at work is it ok to start exercise?

Yes, start slowly: Usually, we tell people to wait 8 weeks after hernia repair because of the risk of recurrence is higher during that time. However, if it has been 6 weeks you can and should have already started walking and you can start running, i would not lift weights for another 2 weeks.

May be recurrence: Pain  6 years after repair , see your doctor may  be a small  or early recurrence, as you need examination.

i was diagnosed with umbilical hernia 5 years back. i never went to repair it so i do have pains sometimes but i bare it . my question is can get my belly pierced eventhough i didn't repair the umbilical hernia?

: Because the skin surrounding the umbilical hernia may be thinned out I would be reluctant to have the piercings. An abdominal surgeon can evaluate you and advise you best,however.

i had an umbilical hernia repair few mnths back.now my navel is itching all the time and inside its raw and smelly. could it be infected?

Yes: It could be infected but it also may be normal odor from sweating. Sutures can also work their way out of the hernia repair. Return to you doctor and ask them, they should be able to put your mind at ease.

Time: To see a doctor. It is rare but possible to have a trapped or incarcerated henia. Do not wait for an emergency to occur. See a doctor for an exam soon or go to an er if your pain does not improve.
