That : That is great news that your ejection fraction (ef) has improved that much, as that is directly correlated with your overall long term prognosis. You clearly are still symptomatic though. If you find that your shortness of breath continues, it is certainly possible that the stenosis in your right coronary artery is the culprit, although without knowing more information it is hard to say definitively. My best advice to you is to find a physician that will answer your questions and communicate with you so that you may understand your care. Heart disease is complex and involves the interplay of many factors, and an excellent relationship with your cardiologist can be the most important one.

Lungs and heart: Lungs will have characteristics sound call crackles and sometimes if severe wheezing - fluids in the lungs. The heart will have a galloping sound call s3 gallop and possibly a murmur. Jugular vein distention at the neck and ankle pitting edema.

It : It really all depends on a number of factors. One of the biggest predictors of survival is what your overall heart function is, or your ejection fraction (ef). There are many other factors that contribute to survival including what the cause of your heart failure it, your other illnesses (diabetes, coronary artery disease, high blood pressure, kidney disease, etc.) as well as your age, gender, symptoms, how well treated your heart failure is (are you on good medications), and various other factors. Heart failure therapy has come a long way over the past 20 years with not only excellent medical therapies but also mechanical heart support as dick cheney had done prior to his transplant. Talk with your cardiologist about your condition and therapy, and continue to educate yourself on heart failure and what you can do to help yourself.
