i had a minimal excision two weeks to remove a epidermoid cyst. its healing. do i need to keep cleaning it everyday with soap ? my skin is peeling nearby it but figure its part of healing. i had a bad case of cellulitis but that cleared?

You are doing well!: A 2-week-old healing wound can be washed with soap and water. It should be kept clean &amp; you should avoid injuring the area until it is fully healed. Prior cellulitis is probably the reason the cyst was removed. This doesn't mean that you should expect a problem with healing. Peeling of skin that has been injured by cellulitis is normal, like peeling after a sunburn. Hope this helps.

will amoxicillin help heal up cellulitis? i had a cyst that got infected and it was drained. i started antibiotics yesterday. how long on antibiotics should the redness on my skin improve or go away with antibiotics? thank you?

Depends on bacteria: If the bacteria are susceptible to the antibiotic, then it may treat the skin infection. The Cephalosporins and Augmentin are also used to treat cellulitis. Keep monitoring temperature and watch for signs of worsening and spread of the infection.

i had a epidermoid cyst removed via minimal excision plus cellulitis. the area is healing but there is dry peeling skin on wound and around it where bandage was. can i put moisturizer on it or should leave it alone? it itches a little?

Accepted Answer

Timing: Itching is a sign of healing. Would not put anything on skin till wound is at least 5-7 days old other than gentle cleaning to remove dry skin. Once that time has passed can use skin lotion or Vitamin E but still not directly on wound. Vitamin C 500mg a day, Vitamin D 2000 units per day and Zinc 30mg a day all help wound healing.

Cellulitis is a: a concern and looks nothing like a pimple. I would see doctor preferably dermatologist for diagnosis and treatment

See Dr.: The piece of the tic still under the skin is a foreign body to your skin and the itching is the body recognizing that.  See the dr. who can steriley remove the tic remnants and cure your woes.  Good luck.

Most often, this occurs in areas where there are small hair follicles and larger oil glands (sebaceous glands), such as your face, neck, upper.

Razor bumps: Yes it can. They are called razor bumps, may be inflammatory from ingrown hairs or also be due to infection in the follicle. i saw my internist for skin cysts that turn into boils, burst, shrink, and then reform again. they often form open tracks. she called them furnaces. they are on my breasts, jaw line, groin, and upper thighs. can these be caused by cellcept?

It may..: Cellcept is in general Immunosuppressant. For reason to prevent rejection of transplants etc.. Any decreases of immunity can make you prone to infections. Skin infections as boils is one of them. Make sure pus was cultured for appropriate treatment  choice of Antibiotics if needed.Drainage of pus and meticulous hygiene to prevent spread is important. Please, follow up w your doc. for exam and test

i was diagnosed with cefulitis. i thought i had a cyst. i was given an anti bi but on the next day what ever i had burst and made mess everywhere. what did i have or do i still have.?

Abscess: It could've been an abscess or an infected cyst.  Cellulitis means there's infection in the skin, and an abscess/infected cyst means there's a collection of pus or fluid along with infection.  If you're still having pain, and the area around where it popped is still red or firm to touch, you should see your doc again. Good luck!
