just got my mri report. note is made of a lobular septated 2.6 cm posterior perisynovial ganglion cyst about the knee joint. is this the same as bakers cyst? do you think this caused my calf pain? do i need surgery to remove it? and is it must?

: Your symptoms are consistent with Baker's Cyst. The need for treatment would depend on your need to get it treated. It is not an urgent issue.

: This scenario certainly suggests that a ruptured Baker's cyst is quite likely. I believe that Inflammatory processes like RA  or clotting from adenomyosis can cause elevation of d dimer.  In my opinion an MRI would most likely demonstrate the responsible issue with your leg. Discuss this with your MD or attending physician who could speak to the radiologist.

Bakers cyst: Rupture of a baker's cyst usually causes calf pain and can cause calf swelling as well.  It does not make a patient more likely to sustaining a calf strain.

3 cm long mass on my r calf soleus muscle, and a 2nd 1cm mass 1" lower on my soleus muscle. pain radiating to the toe, no redness, no warmth. per ultrasound, not a lipoma or blood clot. can this be a baker's cyst? i'm thinking soft tissue sarcoma?

Lower leg issues.: These are 2 different diagnoses that may both result in knee and/or lower leg pain and problems with the way you walk.  A baker's cyst (popliteal cyst) is a true cyst located in the space "behind" the knee.  If large enough, it may affect the calf muscles but usually a cyst does not involve the muscles.  Baker's cysts may change size, so that they seem to involve the calf, but they are at the knee.

Be seen: Generally, ganglion cysts, including a baker cyst, will generally feel better when they evacuate.  Be seen as your symptoms are not typical.

Pain, swelling...: Bakers' cysts are common in osteoarthritis of the knee associated w/ degenerative meniscus( cartilage) tears. You can 'expect ' pain, swelling, stiffness in the back of the knee . You may also notice fluctuations in the size of the cyst from time to time. Be certain that you do indeed have one( the diagnosis is correct) and see a competent knee surgeon for treatment options. Steroid injection.: Baker's cysts can be painful.  However, knee pain is so common that you may well have another cause.  Hard to say without more history and symptoms.  Initial treatment of baker's is a trial of steroid injection into the knee.

Cyst or drainage?: These do sometimes track pretty far down the leg. It could certainly be the cyst itself if it remains on the posterior aspect of the leg. Another possibility is that it has caused some pressure on one of the large veins behind the knee causing swelling at both the leg in the ankle. I would see an orthopedic surgeon to help make a diagnosis and guide treatment.

have painless mass  inner thigh approx 6 x6 cm. quite deep but can move it around. had ruptured baker's cyst on same leg  recently. what could it be ?

6cm X 6cm?: That is a relatively large mass.  It may be a lipoma if it is soft and freely movable, but without an exam and then a definitive biopsy, it is impossible to know for sure.  Due to the sheer size, get it looked at and evaluated by a dr.  best wishes.
