Caution advised: Campylobacter is and infection causing diarrhea, which is often bloody.  It is commonly found in uncooked foods such as poultry.  It is also spread through a fecal/oral route from human to human, so it can be prevented with good hand washing.  It is self-limited, but without treatment can last up to two weeks.  Treatment with certain antibiotics can shorten the course of the disease.

Doubtful this late: Campylobacteriosis infection can result in transmission to the placenta, and if it happens early enough in the pregancy it can cause harm to the baby. However, you are very close to delivery and, i assume, undergoing treatment, so it seems highly unlikely that your baby would be at risk. You should check with your obstetrician to be sure, however.

Sx's can include cramps, fever, abdominal pain, watery or even bloody diarrhea &amp; high fever. It is a cause of dysentery. It usually lasts for 2 to 10 days. It can be diagnosed through stool cultures &amp; antigen testing is being developed.
