Go camera: Not likely as the pill wii not get pictures of every part of stomach end will.  If we do 2nd opinion can give better advice.

Yes: Usually the camera passes out with the stool the day of the test. There are cases where patients have had strictures of the small intestine where the camera was caught. Often doctors will order a small bowel series prior to capsule to rule out these stricture. There is also a special capsule that can also be used to detect stricture that might prevent the camera from passing.

Capsule endoscopy?: Capsule endoscopy (ce) can't be steered (yet) & can't take biopsies, but is amazingly useful in viewing the small bowel in real-time.  As such, capsule endoscopy can find tumors, ulcers, bleeding sites, crohn's disease with great accuracy, and thus better direct treatment. Good luck--.

is there any type of endoscopy where the doctor can see inside your liver directly with a camera? if not is there any procedure that does allow a doctor to see inside your liver directly?

Yes there are ways t: There are many medical means to check your liver ". Before you will understand what I mean, you need to know the anatomical structure of the liver. it is made of cells, ducts to drain bile and blood vessesl going into it and coming out of it.
All these structures have individual tests/means to be checked either with blood tests or with Imaging studies using CT, Sonography, MRI(MRCP)  and ERCP.

i had a capsule endoscopy that was clear. in april & aug 18th i had mild bowel obstructions in the sm intestines. could the camera miss any adhesions?

YES , not intended: Capsule endoscopy  will detect pathology ( disease ) inside the lumen of bowel  like bleeding , tumors etc  It can not visualize the adhesions as they are outer surface of bowel, but laparoscopic examination will . Speak to your doctor

Returning : Returning to the er is unlikely to help make the diagnosis.  Er's are set up for emergency situations, and they cannot perform complicated testing as you know.  The best thing is to establish with an excellent primary care physician, either an internal medicine or family practice physician.  However, you need to know that there are some conditions that cannot be diagnosed by current technology, and it is a matter of managing the symptoms.  While that is a frustrating situation, it is reality, and is something to consider as you go through this process.

To screen for cancer: If you are referring to a colonoscopy, which is a lower gastrointestinal endoscopy, then they might find polyps (precancerous growths) or colon cancer. On the other end, there are upper endoscopes (egds) which look at the esophagus and stomach and first part of the small intestine and there could be cancers found there too.

Endoscopy: Either upper endoscopy or colonoscopy are done under IV sedation. Once you are sedated, the scope is passed into the intended area. It usually lasts 15-20 minutes. The sedation is reversed and you awaken in recovery. Someone drives you home and you can eat.

No: Endoscopy is meant to look at the anatomy of the esophagus, stomach and duodenum (or the colon, using a different kind of scope).  Smoking may cause changes in the mucosal lining, including inflammation (gastritis, duodenitis, esophagitis) but these aren't specific to smoking. Smoking is 'detected' by history, smell of tobacco smoke on patients, and sometimes urine cotinine (nicotine's metabolite).
