BMI: Your BMI is 27.6 - mildly overweight.  Calculate BMI by googling BMI calculator.  To calculate caloric need google BMR( basal metabolic rate), based on the Harris Benedict equation, which is 1591.4 for you- the basic energy  used  to  function(breathe etc) for moderate activity add  20%-300 calories. To lose a pound/wk have to burn 3500 or 500 calories/day. So eat ~ 1400 calories/day.F/U with doc

Muscle weight : Weight does matter, but losing fat rather than muscle matters the most. Simple caloric restriction leads to mixed loss of fat and muscle. But muscle sparing diets such as HCG or diets accompanied by muscle building exercises and your body type may be leading to increase your muscle mass. You may want to consider getting a certified trainer who can help you achieve your goals.

Change lifestyle: Regular exercise plus healthy eating are key to weight loss & maintenance. We recommend 30min moderate intensity exercise most days of week. Eat lots of brightly or dark colored fruits & veggies. Lots of fiber (aim for 25-35g/d). Nuts & beans are good. Healthy fats & oils like olive & fish. Lean protein in reasonable servings (only need 4oz per meal). Talk to your family doc to be sure thyroid ok.
