Temporary effect: The alterations in the timing of stomach movement/motility is a temporary effect of Bydureon (exenatide).  It should resolve with stopping the medication.

i am on bydureon (exenatide) injections for my diabetes my insurance company notified me that they will not be paying for this drug in 2016 they recommend a replacement drug called trulicity, will this drug work as well as the bydoreon  for me thank you?

Yes: There has been recent formulary changes. Trulicity should work equally well as the Bydureon (exenatide).

Probably.: May need to rethink your medications.  A sulfonylurea such as Glipizide or Insulin might be the Next Choice depending upon the height of your bg.

Anytime: It's a long acting medication so you can do it anytime. Remember, Bydureon (exenatide) reaches maximum efficacy in 10 weeks so be patient.

Not much different: Some minor differences but all in all, they are fine. Once/week vs. Once/day. The main thing is Bydureon (exenatide) takes 6-10 weeks to reach maximum strength so your numbers might be higher at the beginning.  If you ride it out, you will be ok in 8 weeks. I use the two interchangeably depending on insurance coverage.

Variable: Some side effects may start immediately or within a day or two and others may come later.

Not really: Hi. Bydureon (extended action exenatide) can cause nausea and even vomiting in susceptible patients, but I've not seen it personally or reported to cause the desire for bland food. And fenofibrate, likewise, no desire for bland food.

i took 2 exlax wednesday night. had slight bm on thursday afternoon. took 3 stool softeners thursday night. nothing. used a suppository this afternoon. little more bm. still fill bloated and belly hurts. now what?  type 2 diabetic. several meds. bydureon.

You need to: "correct" your colonic situation FROM ABOVE!
Start increasing your FLUID INTAKE! Start eating FOODS WITH BULKING PROPERTIES..RICE CEREALS/BANANAS
Metamucil if you cannot tolerate the above.
SPEAK WITH YOUR PCP since it must be determined that increasing bulk is safe (no obstructions etc) Finally if this repeats SEE a GI specialist you may have a form of IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome)

Weeks: Bydureon (exenatide) takes many weeks to start working, and also many weeks to get out of your system once you stop it.  It will make gastroparesis worse.  Reglan can be of some benefit in people with gastroparesis, but it has side effects after you have been on it for some time.
