Could be reflux: "burning sensation" in the chest may be related to reflux.  Go see your doctor.  A trial of ppi's and carafate (sucralfate) may help determine the cause and may need an egd scope.  I have also seen "strictures" do this....The esophagus folding onto itself and you need a dilation by a GI doc.  Your family doc could order a upper GI series to help him figure out the problem.

In general, burning sensations or pains suggest nerve involvement. Nerve pain (neuropathy) causes burning and tingling, and be caused by nerve injury, irritation or infection.
