Get X-ray if...: Sounds like a contusion to your thigh. ( bruise). If you are able to walk and weight bear on that side a fractured femur( thigh bone)extremely unlikely. Contusions to kneecap( prepatellar bursitis ) is very common w/ your mechanism of injury and can refer pain proximally . So are thigh contusions. Fever, nausea, vomiting, altered stool pattern, blood with stool, tenderness, distension? Painful urination, blood in urine? Recent trauma, herniations? Age? Gender? Risk factors?

Back: It could be coming from your lumbar spine. My suggestion is to see a spine specialist and have a proper evaluation. You may also need an MRI. You don't have to have back pain to have a pinched nerve.

Knee Muscles: Strengthen all the muscles around the Knee joint, including the back/thigh muscles.  If you are unsure, I would suggest getting an evaluation by a sports medicine trained physical therapist.

Pinched nerve: The left leg symptoms are characteristic of a pinched nerve at the groin. The coldness of the left foot most likely is a sensation subsequent to the pinched nerve rather than true coldness of the skin. Truly cold foot would be caused by blockage of the artery supplying the foot. I recommend consulting a neurologist for evaluation of your left leg symptoms.

Meralgia paresthetic: Meralgia paraesthetica causes a burning sensation of a patch of sjine on the upper thigh. It is due to an inflammation of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve as it comes over the rim of the pelvic bone. Seen after injury to it, associated with weight gain (or loss) and often with no apparent cause. Treated with avoiding tight under garment pressing on nerve, injections and occasionally surgery.

2 injuries or 1+: 1st may have been a more serious injury than u thought, hamstring tear & now more easily injured, & will b a chronic problem.  Especially if it took a long time 2 heal. If u had a short recovery & then pain free up 2 the time of injury # 2, it may b just the luck of the draw. Solved by not doing it any more. Now pain may b hamstring attachment inflammation & may b chronic.  Warm up, nsaids, act mod.

Yes: Burning or numbness along the lateral thigh is classic for meralgia paresthetica, but if you do not have a reason for it (protuberant abdomen, lots of pushing activities bent forward) then make sure other sources have been excluded (like an L4 root compression).

Nerve pain : This sounds like nerve pain. However because there is tenderness to touch there could be some inflammation or infection going on as well. I would recommend you visit your doctor for a proper examination and possibly X Rays or ultrasound of the Lowry back , hips and thigh
