Meralgia paresthetic: Meralgia paraesthetica causes a burning sensation of a patch of sjine on the upper thigh. It is due to an inflammation of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve as it comes over the rim of the pelvic bone. Seen after injury to it, associated with weight gain (or loss) and often with no apparent cause. Treated with avoiding tight under garment pressing on nerve, injections and occasionally surgery.
