Achilles: Achilles&#x27; tendon injuries and ruptures can be caused by trauma such as  aggressive jumping but also can become weakened by taking certain antibiotics such as ciprofloxacin or levofloxacin. Both of these medications  belong to the &quot;quinolone&quot; family of drugs. Either way, that needs to be evaluated by a medical professional and may even need an MRI.

i have ankle pain , and my achilles tendon is hurting me , burning , hurts on the outside of my ankle . i didnt do anything to it . what should i do ?

Seek medical help : If you have an injury to your ankle, you are over using your Achilles’ tendon to help you ambulate. Treating the ankle along with the Achilles is needed. You require proper diagnosis and rehabilitation. I recommend seeing your doctor or podiatrist for this condition. Crutches or walking boot is needed to immobilize the ankle.

Continue stretching: Until you see the PT, maintain range of motion via stretching; however, compare the non affected side with the painful one to gauge physiologic range to avoid over stretching.  Since this tendon is so superficial, rub Voltaren gel (OTC) onto the painful area 30 min BEFORE stretching, and do gradual stretching vs rapid stretch. Good luck!

i try using a pillow to raise the back of my sore heel but it still doesn't stop the burning pain.  i  wonder if achilles tendon is involved. walk ok.

Good question: Achilles tendonopathy tends to produce an enlarged, tender tendon (particularly sore when squeezed).  Also, small nerve branches supplying the heel can become irritated to cause a burning pain.  One question: why are you taking clonazepam?  Underlying disorder?

Depends on severity: Achilles tendon problems are notorious for slow healing. This tendon gets relatively poor blood supply compared to other soft tissue structures. Healing is dependent on many factors: severity of injury, age of patient, ability to rest from aggravating activities and success of various treatment measures. Some may overcome tendonitis in 2 weeks while it may take others up to a year.

Plantar fasciitis: You possibly have plantar fasciitis, which is an inflammation in the sole of the foot. Begin stretching your foot every day. If it does not go away, see an orthopedist or podiatrist for help.
