Seek help: Any sudden pain, bleeding, or (as in your case) swelling should be evaluated immediately.  See your Oral Surgeon, General Dentist, General Physician, ENT Specialist, Urgent Care, or ER.  Seek immediate care.

Inside/outside: If it was the outside if your lip it was a prodromal sign for a gerrprtic lesion which would break out creating a pimple like sore that would eventually scab over last abot 10-14 dats.

i got an itchy rash encircling my lips, then it went away. but my lips still felt itchy & tingly, especially my upper lips, so i scratched/itched them using my fingers and bottom teeth. the next day i had two red bumps on my upper lip. is it herpes?

It happens: After the extraction of a lower wisdom tooth, there can be some lingering numbness. This usually means the roots of the extracted tooth were very close to the inferior alveolar nerve which runs the length of the lower jawbone. Often the feeling will come back. Sometimes it doesn't and that is one of the unfortunate rare side effects of wisdom tooth extractions. See your dentist or oral surgeon.

Generally Not: It is generally part of the healing tissue that will take several weeks to heal.  It heals from the inside out and not from the outside in.

Yes: It sounds like the procedure induced a "cold sore," or HSV1 eruption and you should be treated with Valtrex (valacyclovir) or Acyclovir asap. You can use Abreva which is over-the-counter. Avoid chocolate and nuts and triy to eat more chicken and yogurt. Don't have any more treatments until it clears up and be sure to pretreat with those same medicines before the next treatment. Also, stop pinching it!

It can..: Having wisdom teeth removed is still a form of surgery.  You may have not only had teeth removed but soft tissue and bone, depending on what condition they were in prior to extraction.  If they are really still bothering you then go back to the doctor that took them out and have them looked at.  Continuing care is part of what you paid for.

Gently: Avoid any vigorous rinsing on the day of your surgery.   You can rinse gently after eating to remove any food particles in your mouth that day.  Some patients may be advised to use a saline (table salt in water) rinse postoperatively. Some patients may also be instructed to rinse with a Chlorhexidine rinse postoperatively.

Wisdom tooth ext: Depends on when the tooth was removed. If you are having severe pain, you may have a dry socket--call your surgeon. If no pain and it is soon after the extraction, it is probably from the bleeding and drainage from the wound--follow the post-op instructions.
In any case, if it continues beyond 3 days, call your surgeon.
