i have a scab looking on my concha on my left ear. and in my right ear i have what looks like a bump from under the skin. both are non painful. what could it be?

Accepted Answer

Trauma?: Scab may be from trauma or could be actinic keratosis or basal cell cancer that are common in those areas of sun exposure. If it persists or grows and bleeds get it checked out. Lump under skin may also be trauma affecting cartilage of ear or something unrelated like insect bite reaction. Sorry to not be more specific without pictures.

i have for 3 days now a little bump/pimple in my right ear the concha cympa and it hurts when i touch that part and behind my ear. my ear is red but not swollen. ive never had this before what could this be? should i wait a few more days ? thanku?

: Redness, if not caused by irritation or trauma, is a sign of cellulitis which is a bacterial infection requiring systemic antibiotics, either intravenously or orally. Get examined by a physician ASAP.for accurate diagnosis and proper treatment &amp; follow-up.

i have a small bump in my ear (inside the concha cymba) that is the same colour as my skin. there is a slight pain when i touch it, however it is not red nor inflamed. what is it?

: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. It may an epidermal inclusion cyst. You may watch and wait. It is doubles in size, ulcerates, bleeds, develops a discharge or gets inflamed, it would be prudent to see a doctor.

had a bump in cavum concha of ear x4 days.  today i popped it & yellowish fluid came out.  cleaned w/alcohol & put neosporin on. is it bad i did this?

Abscess : You probably popped a small bacterial abscess. This will likely be ok that your using Neosporin as well. Keep monitoring your ear to make sure no other infection has occurred. Then you will likely need to be on oral antibiotics.

Anatomy: Concha bullosae are enlarged middle turbinates, which is a variant type of anatomy,  causing nasal obstruction. Enlarged inferior turbinates also cause difficulty breathing. A deviated septum is a crooked divider between the right and left nostrils, also causing difficulty breathing. Swollen nodes might be a reaction to a recent or chronic infection. See an otolaryngologist for evaluation.

Probably fatty tumor: This is a common area for the development of cysts or fatty tumors.  If it interferes with activity like combing your hair, or has surface changes including bleeding, or it is growing and red then you might see a dermatologist for evaluation.  Otherwise you can live with if if it is small and not bothering you.

A few thoughts of reasons for this lump would be your normal anatomy or the mastoid prominence, it could be due to a lymph node which are common to this area, a sebaceous cyst which comes from a blocked sweat gland or an infection. Lymph node: The most likely mass behind the ear... Assuming you are not feeling the mastoid bone would be an enlarged lymph node. If present for more than 2 weeks or larger than 2cm... Get it checked.

Cyst vs lymph node: Cysts can clog up and painlessly enlarge then regress. If they become infected, they'll become painful. Outer ear infections can lead to swollen lymph nodes which can also be painful. If lump doesn't resolve in a few days w/warm compresses, see your Family Doc for diagnosis &amp; treatment.

i have a very hard, immobile, and painless bump 2 inches behind my right ear. it seems like it has changed in size. cause for concern?

Needs to be checked: It is very hard to say what this hard lump could be without more information like how long you have had it.And if it hurts to touch.Since it has grown in size and is of concern to you.I suggest you get it checked by your family doctor.It may be a cyst,But we can only know after examining it.And it may need to be excised and sent to lab for biopsy if indicated
