Botox Bruising: It is common to get bruising around the eyes after having treatment with Botox to this area. The muscles that cause the wrinkles are very superficial in this area and tend to bruise easily. Make sure you see a trained injector, preferably an md, who understands the musculature of the face and proper injecting technique.

what can i do for leg swelling from a broken blood vessel from a fall we have done hot packs and raised leg up but there is a lot of pain and black and blue in foot

Accepted Answer

First : First of all, you need to be sure there is no blood clot in your leg if you are having pain and swelling.  A blood clot is a medical emergency and can only be determined by a vascular study (ultrasound).

To help swelling, you are right to elevate the leg.  If the accident happened within 72 hours use cold, if greater than that warm packs are fine.  Compression hose may help discomfort from swelling.

If there is significant swelling from an injury, fluid has been forced into the tissues in places where it usually isn't, and this can take weeks to subside and there is not a great deal you can do besides elevation and compression stockings to help the appearance and symptoms.

If you have redness, increased swelling, red streaks, or fever, you need to have an immediate medical evaluation.

i was on a two week road trip, my feet and ankles swelled up, more the right. after it went down i have broken blood vessels like a bad rash but it doesnt itch. but i just woke up with severe calve muscle pain?

: I would strongly suggest an urgent trip to the emergency room to rule out a blood clot in your lower extremity.  If present, you run the risk of it traveling and causing a pulmonary embolism.

my husband(age69) has what appears to be a broken blood vessel or clot on the middle of the bottom of his foot. has moderate pain when he stands or walks. he has also had some vein issues on this same leg and a sore knee. where should we go from here?

Ortho consult: 69 year old gentleman with ecchymosis on bottom of foot, moderate pain standing or walking, unknown onset, location, and duration of pain. Also c/o pain in knee and possible venous issues of unknown type.
You should visit an orthopaedic surgeon for a medical history and physical exam. The orthopaedic surgeon can perform imaging of your husband's lower extremity and evaluate any problems. Good luck

Doubt your label: A broken blood vessel would scar and heal over time. An enlarged venous malformation might be possible.What would be more likely would be a collection of jumbled blood vessels called a hemangioma. All of these possibilities are evident to a trained observer on physical exam. Whether or not some procedure might be possible to remove it could be determined at that time.

May need drainage.: What describe sounds like something called a hematoma or trapped blood under the skin especially if the cause was secondary to trauma.  Usually this would be raised with surrounding blue or yellow-green skin.  If you have had for 3 weeks, this may require drainage or evacuation under local anesthesia.  You should see a general or hand surgeon.

Normal: Squeezing an area such as a pimple will cause trauma to the skin around the area resulting in local damage to the tiny blood vessels in the area and could cause a black and blue make.  This is nothing to worry about and will resolve over several days.

how to tell the difference between a bruise and a broken blood vessel?

Accepted Answer

Similar: A bruise is the result of broken blood vessels usually from trauma.  The bruise is from broken- down blood cells and usually lasts a couple of weeks (turn yellowish before fading out).
