good morning. last month they made me an us and reported that they found hypervasular thyroid nodule (0.9 x 0.8mm) and the nodule is hypoechoic. is it something i should worry about?

: Thyroid nodules are not uncommon.  Not all nodules are dangerous, or cancerous.  This may be a little on the small side for a biopsy which often is the only way to know for sure.  Speak with your doctor and ask their opinion.  I personally would not be that worried about one small nodule under 1cm in size.  They may also suggests other imaging such as with nuclear medicine imaging.

Referral: Most thyroid nodules are benign and this is a common problem. However, this can be serious. Usually a fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNA) will determine if the nodule is cancerous or benign. This test can get right to the bottom of the issue. Often an ultrasound is needed to determine the characteristics of a thyroid nodule. You need a pathologist and radiologist you can trust!

Thyroid nodule: Needs evaluation to see if it is a cyst or a solid tumor and possible get a fine needle biopsy to make sure if it is cancerous or not. There has been no good evidence that homeopathy works for thyroid nodules.

male. i had small under 1cm lump in midline of neck. ultrasound result was no swollen lymph nodes seen & no cystic or solid thyroid nodules. lump was a complicated cyst with benign appearance. is this a good or bad result?

Get evaluated: You will probably have an ultrasound done and if a nodule is confirmed a needle biopsy is frequently done to determine further action.

Not uncommon: It is not common, but it certainly occurs. Teens can have autoimmune thyroid disease (hashimotos or graves disease) and the thyroid can enlarge and get lumpy.  Thyroid cancer can occur, but is much less common. Blood tests of thyroid hormone, thyroid antibodies, an ultrasound with possible biopsy, maybe a thyroid nuclear scan, are all tests that your endocrinologist would likely order.

Yes?: If by a perm you mean a hair styling requiring adding chemicals to the hair, a thyroid nodule will not be affected.

To be safe: The nodule is believed to have benign characteristics that do not require biopsy now. To be safe, and to ensure the nodule is not growing, a followup ultrasound is advised. This is very common and good advice.

: Assuming the cystic nodule turns into a solid nodule, the indication for biopsy will depend on the characteristics of this solid nodule. You should discuss with the endocrinologist.

Go see ur Family Doc: Work w/your Family Doc &amp; Endocrinologist to evaluate your thyroid nodule. Lab tests, scans, ultrasounds &amp; biopsy will be needed to determine whether it's solid or cystic, hot or cold, active nor not, cancerous or not.
