Yes: You can breastfeed with a fibroadenoma. Fibroadenomas are benign findings and should not have any impact on your breastfeeding or in the quality of the nutrition you provide to your infant.

i have fibroadenomas in my breasts. do they pose any risks of complications in the future regarding breastfeeding and is it worth getting them removed? i have gotten mixed opinions from my doctors

Fibroadenoma: In themselves they should not be a problem. Are the growths near where the baby latches on?  If causing a physical obstruction that would be a reason to get removed. Do the growths cause you pain or discomfort?  That would be another reason to address the issue.  If the growths are not affecting you then I would leave alone.

Better: Hands down - breast feeding is better. Human milk is designed for human babies. Formula is cow's milk, and while the formula companies have tried to get it to be the best it can, it's design is for baby cows, not humans. It has none of the protective antibodies breast milk does to protect baby from disease in the first months.And breast feeding protects mom from breast cancer and helps lose weight.

Discuss with MD: Hyperkeratosis of the nipple and areola is a rare condition.Its characteristic properties are verrucous thickening and brownish discoloration of the nipples and areola. Usually seen in women in the second and third decade of life. The nipple is seldom affected alone.Lesions may become darker & more verrucous during pregnancy, making breast feeding impossible.

how long after i drink can i breast feed again?

Breast Feeding: It is better to not drink at all while you are breast feeding.  If you do decide to use alcohol, it depends on the amount your drink, and when you stop.  Small amounts can be out of your system in hours.  Larger amounts will take 6 or more hours.  Negligible  alcohol becomes part of the breast milk, so pumping and discarding is not recommended (american academy of pediatrics).

can i still breast feed while using salonpas patches?

Accepted Answer

Not Recommended: Not much is absorbed from Salonpas patches. Minimal amount of Salicylate is absorbed from the skin and theoretically can cause Reye's syndrome. It is rare and I have not seen one. However, FDA does not recommend its use in pregnancy or nursing. If you have already used it, do not worry. Just be safe and do not use it again.

Nasal congestion: In infants the primary cause of congestion are irritants or colds. House dust, fragrance, perfumes, detergent or cleaning products all leave scents that don't bother adults but irritate a baby's nose. A good nasal clean out with saline can remove much of this irritant load, but removing the offending irritants from babies life helps more in the long run.Irritants aggravate colds ; nasal wash helps

a woman taking meds for mdd, can still breast feed her baby?

Most of them, yes: Most of the anti-depressants used for mdd are perfectly fine to take while you are breast feeding.  There are a very few exceptions of rare ones used, so i would run it by your doc or a lactation consultant for a specific med.  One thing i would let you know, thoug, is some of them may slightly dry up your milk if you are not drinking enough fluids, so really push your intake of water every day!

Breastfeeding helps!: During pregnancy your body stored extra fat in preparation for breastfeeding.  You only need an extra 500 calories a day to breastfeed (peanut butter sandwich and glass of milk). Breastfeeding your infant will help you to lose that pregnancy weight. Also you will reduce your risk of developing osteoporosis and breast cancer. Benefits for both you and baby.  All the best!
