Mimics infection: Inflammatory bc can look like a bad infection - the breast is swollen and red and often tender. In general, if you have a significant breast infection - you should be seen and treated by a doc anyhow.  If the condition is atypical or you do not respond promptly to antibiotics you will need to see a breast specialist. Ibc is usually a treated with chemo followed by surgery and radiotherapy.

I need to know that: Long term study with nurses  (who often drank and smoked  back then ) stated alcohol greater then 2 drinks or glasses of wine  hurts or increases your chances of bc

simplistically we  do not know  - we usually encourage a low fat diet since heart disease - stroke- heart disease  is the number 1, 2, 3, killer.

Over the counter med: Symptoms of fibrocystic breast changes include lumpy and tender breasts, swelling, itching and pain.  Symptoms often occur in both breasts.

Treatments include a supportive bra or sports bra.  Dietary changes including decreasing fat and sugar intake.  Some have improvement by decreasing caffeine and chocolate intake.   

Over the counter medications include tylenol, (acetaminophen) ibuprofen, magnesium.

i've had an appointment for a mammogram since i am 35 but i have fibrocystics breast disease. how would they be able to do a mammogram on me?

With some difficulty: In interpretation, depending on the degree of fibrocystic changes.  If you have a positive family history, or if the mammogram cannot be interpreted properly, an ultrasound might also be necessary.  Confer with your doctor to make sure.

Dominant mass: A dominant lump n a breast should be seen by your personal physician without delay. You can ask your physician about whether mammography is right for you. Lumpy-Bumpy Breasts: Most women's breasts are "lumpy-bumpy" and often hurt just before/during one's menstrual cycle.  When this "flies above the radar", we give it fancy names like "mastalgia" and "fibrocystic changes".  Some women respond to caffeine avoidance, vitamin e, oil of primrose, or even occasional nsaids.  Please discuss your concerns with your gynecologist--they should be able to reassure you not to worry.

More info needed.: There are women with dense breasts and palpable cysts...There are also women with fatty breasts and some have both, the fat is very radiolucent, the fibrocyctic tissue less so, so there are palpation and mammographic differences.
