Joint scar tissue: This can be a difficult problem depending on the cause.  Your best best would first be to see a certified hand surgeon for evaluation as to the cause and then recommendations can be made. If you have stiffness from arthritis you may need medication or surgery but if it's scarring from surgery you probably need to see a special hand physical/occupational therapist for exercises.

Ankle Stiffness: Sterching the ankle can help improve flexibility and range of motion, therby decreasing adhesions and some scar tissue. Deep cros friction massage and exercises like bycling or swimming would help. Physical therpay would be helpful as well.

No: Surgery may be required but some times the scar tissue can be loosened with physical therapy and exercise. I would recommend you start with evaluation with a orthopedic doctor and instruction on proper exercises.

Vitamin E Oil: Scar massage with vitamin E oil or cream can help to reduce scars on the skin.  Scarring within the knee itself will respond to range of motion exercises and stretching.

Typically, a therapist will work a little beyond your comfort zone every session to achieve maximum benefits. Ask them to give you exercises to do on your own to assist in removing scar tissue and improve your recovery!

Often times with: Limited or restricted motion scar tissue can develop. This is common at joints. So thru range of motion exercises "joint adhesions" can be broken up. Scar tissue can also be reduced.

Muscle pain: Yes, they do. However, the stiffness is usually due to severe swelling that limits joint mobility causing the stiffness. The best treatment is usually icing. I usually recommend icing all day while awake, but never leave the ice on one patch of skin for longer than 15 minutes. Divide the knee into 4 quadrants (top, bottom, both sides) and move the ice to the new quadrant every 15 minutes.
