would brain tumor head pain come and go, or be constant? i know headaches dont mean brain tumor, but when there is head pain from one wouldn't it be constant?

Not necessarily: Patients with brain tumors may not experience significant headaches, they may have on and off headaches and only rarely continuous headaches. The pattern of the pain is not predictive of its source.

how likely is it to have a brain tumor if i had a clear head scan in december 2012, if i have started having daily "all day" headaches again? stress?

Brain tumor: It is very unlikely to have a brain tumor now with a normal scan in dec 2012.  Headaches do not correlate with MRI or ct findings normally.  The scans are done to rule out an organic.  On the other hand stress is often a contributor to headaches.  See your family doctor and a neurologist for treatment.

i get migraines every month and i get them a lot during the month almost every week. now the headache is gone, the other side of my head started hurting but only when touched or press. could this migraines be a brain tumor?

Accepted Answer

: The area hurting when pressed sounds like a tender muscle.  This is common on the side of the head beginning behind the eye &amp; continuing back behind the ear.  I would also expect you to experience the same in your face directly in front of your ear continuing forward for about 1-2 inches.  These are chewing muscles which become tense from clenching the teeth  or from a TMJ disorder.

That can be anything: Most people get a headache at some time, such as from colds, infections, lack of sleep, too much driving, long hours on the computer, stress at work, etc. Over-the-counter options include Tylenol (acetaminophen) Motrin, Alleve, Excedrin Migraine and their generic brands. A bad or increasing headache, recurrent headache, weird headache, or one that won't go away needs to be examined by a doctor.

unlikely: A tumor is an unlikely cause of headaches but constant headaches need evaluation and proper treatment. See a neurologist if possible.

Very uncommon: A headache coupled with confusion, dizziness, memory loss, slurred speech, loss of balance, weakness on one side of the body, seizures or blurred or double vision could signal a stroke or brain tumor, so always demand prompt medical action in those circumstances. Isolated headache is rarely caused by brain tumors.

Highly unlikely: Your symptoms aren't at all the classical or common ones we hear from people who end up complaining of headaches which turn out to be associated with the growth of brain tumors. Headaches ONLY at night time for example &amp; ONLY on the top &amp; sides of the head (i.e. practically the whole head) &amp; without focal neurological complaints do not suggest tumor. Parietal or temporal: Headache can be related to a TMJ dysfunction and sometimes the origin maybe coming from the occipital muscle. If a person is in a lot of stress, contraction of the muscle in a deranged side of the jaw can trigger a headache. See your M.D. Who can refer you to a neurologist and if your blood test, exams, and other diagnostic procedures came out (-), see a TMJ doctor.

Unlikely: Headaches are common and are often caused by stress or tension. It could also be migraine which is also quite common. Brain tumors do cause headaches but are relatively rare. You should have your doctor examine you and test you for the likely cause and treat it appropriately. A specialist/ neurologist may be consulted if your pcp is unable to control it well and to your satisfaction.

: There are many causes of headaches and brain tumors are usually not the cause. You should have an evaluation by a doctor to determine the cause and the appropriate treatment.
