i have been having blue bowel movements for past few days with severe stomach cramps and change in my bowel movements.  what could be the cause?

IBS: I am not sure why you have been having blue bowel movements but your stomach cramps and change in bowel movements could be due to irritable bowel syndrome. If you have had any recent infections or if the pains worsen you should get evaluated by  a physician.

i have tried senna tablets nightly, also stool softeners, some suppositories.  must strain and push hard and; bowel movements are hard little balls, ?

Eat more fiber: Adequate fiber (25-36g/d), plenty of fluid & regular physical activity are important for regular bowel function. Osmotic laxatives are also available over-the-counter - just ask your pharmacist. If you haven't had a colonoscopy in over 10 years, it's time. Definitely go see your family doc if you've noted any unintentional weight loss or change in appearance of your stool.

i know this is going to sound insane but i have had bloody stool for a few years now. what is this. too afraid for doctors visit also no longer having regular bowel movements. it looks like balls of puss when i try to have a bowel movement and it smells.

You : You definitely need to see a doctor right away. Blood in the stool is often just hemorrhoids or something minor like that. But sometimes in can be something much worse that needs to be diagnosed without delay.

Many reasons: There can be many causes for this to occur. Sometimes the age of the patient can lead to a likely cause, however all patients that have blood in bm should see a doctor or surgeon to determine the source.The young(hemorrhoids, polyps, fissures, inflamatory bowel diease), older( the same plus cancer.

Other Sx ???: The breast fed baby can have a small smear of poo every feeding or a giant crib filler poo every 7-10 days & be normal. If all of babies stools have been soft to this point & baby is otherwise behaving normally, i wouldn't do much other than wait for the inevitable poo.  I baby has dropped his/her feeding activity & changes play patterns, an exam may be indicated. Call the office & check with dr.

Do..: Drink plenty of water and consume a high fiber diet, meaning more fruits and vegetables. If still with issues you may try an over the counter laxative. If problem persists then it is time to visit your doctor for evaluation.

Constipation: Eat lots of fruits and vegetables as a fiber source.Increase intake if legumes, beans, nuts raisins and prunes. Eat high fiber cereals and cut down on milk and milk products.
