Color: The color of stool doesnt matter unless they are red (bloody) white (acholic , no pigment) or back (tarry) for upper Gi bleed. The color can be affected by what we eat. It is possible that the bile without its storage unit (the gallbladder) is passing faster through the system staining the stools.

i had gallbladder surgery last tuesday.had one stool thurs.  i haven't had a bowel movement in 5 days. is this normal?

Can be...: It's common to have constipation after any surgery, especially if you are taking any narcotic pain medication.  The best think to do is to get some light activity (like walking 3 times per day).  I also usually recommend to my patients over the counter Milk of Magnesia (magnesium hydroxide) 30ml once in the morning and once at night.  If you don't have a bowel movement in 48 hours you should see your doctor.

i just had gallbladder surgery a week ago and have been really constipated! i had my fourth bowel movement and this time the toilet was full of blood,?

Constipation s/p gb: Likely was hemorrhoids which worsened or developed due to  constipation. But  would call doctor and let them know and evaluate. Could be ileitis , colitis, AVM, polyps as well. Also discuss with doctor diet. usually there is more of a problem with diarrhea after gb. Drink fluids about 2-3 liters/ day water /gator have  to avoid fats &lt; 3 grams /serving. Add fiber.

i had gall bladder surgery 10 days ago, 4 day postop i started  gritty sandy bowel movements loose large .   i never had this before, concerns?

Here are some ...: I wouldn't worry about it as long as feeling better day by day in general activity, appetite, voiding, BM, etc. with no fever or undue pain. Of course, if not as described or something mentally or physically bothering you, ask your surgeon timely. Note, after gallbladder removal, your body is adjusting to the "new" environment without a gallbladder for digestion so to expect slight change in BM.

i have mild descending non dilated air loops around small bowel. is this scar tissue? i had gallbladder surgery?

: The X-ray reading if correctly written down from the official report does not make sense. I assume you meant the adhesion from previous abdominal surgery, especially if you had open cholecystectomy not laparoscopic method. Yes, a late complication of abdominal surgery can be ileus due to adhesion.

no gallbladder.  haven't had sold bowel movement in 5 weeks.  all liquid.  what can i do?

You should: see a doctor.  It is abnormal to have diarrhea for such a long time.  It could be serious GI infection or even ulcerative colitis.

It is common: To experience change in vowel habits after cholecystectomy. A diet journal may help identify triggers and help sort out  issues.

About now: As you are going on one week it may a cause for some concern.  If you haven't eaten much this past week it isn't surprising however as long as you are passing gas and not having abdominal pain or swelling it's not an emergency.  Check with your surgeon tomorrow. But if you are having pain get seen right away. Best of luck!

Flatulence: Flatulence is nonspecific and perhaps your digestive system has been altered after gall bladder removal. Avoid gassy foods, very harsh roughshod, carbonated drinks and take simethicone 1/2 hour after meals to prevent gas buildup.If constipation becomes problematic drink adequate fluids and try taking a gentle stimulant with stool softener like senokotS daily.
