why do my both arms go numb and to sleep and at some point my left pinky gets these sharp pains off and on!!!!

Ulnar neuropathy: is most likely.  Be sure that you do not sleep or work in any position that puts pressure on your elbows.  Consider wearing protective padding there.  If you have any arthritis/neck problems, it could come from there instead, and you would need to see someone.  In either case if it is getting worse you may need some nerve testing.

Numbness: Could be vascular such as thoracic outlet syndrome or neurologic such as carpal tunnel or cubital tunnel syndrome.

See your physcian: As this could be related to your sle and it could be progressing to affect peripheral nerves as it sometimes does. This could also lead to raynauds and there will be specific treatments to this as well. Discuss with you physician what acute med options are right for you and to prevent issues with raynauds.

Arms numb.: three general possibilities or combinations thereof:  carpal tunnel syndrome, ulnar tunnel syndrome and cervical radiculopathy (from the neck).  A nerve conduction study will help differentiate these possibilities.

Multiple locations : Including both sides of brain, brian stem , cervical spinal cord and / or peripheral nerve could be the sites of problem and different pathological process could do it. Only a neurologist after a complete neurological examination and appropriate test could give you the answer.

Hyperventilation: Complaint of paresthesias in both upper extremities &amp; peri-oral region of face is a non-physiologic/anatomic pattern of neural function/expression. More likely explanation is systemic metabolic changes in blood acid-base balance incited by hyperventilation. Underlying anxiety disorder is commonly primary cause in the symptom-arousing causal chain of these physiologic events.

: There are several things that can cause numbness coming out of sleep.  Most are positional, meaning that you slept in such a position that puts pressure on a nerve for a pronlonged period resulting in numbness.  For example, sleeping with your wrists flexed can provoke carpal tunnel symptoms while sleeping with your elbows flexed can cause cubital tunnel syndrome.
