i have a bony growth on the heel of my left foot; what do i do? it isn't painful.

Haglund's Deformity: I am not clearly sure what yo mean by bony growth. If its on the back of your heel, it is a bone spur, if it is on the outside of the heel bone, then it could be haglund's which is know as "pump bump". Need to see a podiatrist for evaluation and treatment. X-rays will determine what the problem is.

right heel xray (axial/lateral): lower end of tibia & fibula otherwise are normal but there is bony projection from posterior part of tibia pl explain?

Tibia or talus?: Is this projection off the tibia or the talus?  You could have an os trigonum. Can be pain free and cause no problem or sometimes cause posterior ankle pain.

i have a painful bony enlargement at the back of the foot where the achilles tendon inserts into the heel bone. the pain has developed slowly over time and has now become quite painful. anti inflammatory  meds have not helped. ?

Probably: Fortunately the cuneiforms are pretty rigid with alot of soft tissue/capsular attachment that help form the midfoot.  A cast should help to allow things to heal and ossify.  This may predispose you to some midfoot pain/arthritis as you get older.  A good arch support may help longterm.  I'd let your orthopod determine if cast or boot or postop shoe is appropriate w/o seeing films.

i've developed a bony bump on the top of of my rt foot. what could cause that.

A few possibilities: The bump could be a thickening in one of your foot tendons, or it could be a ganglion cyst arising from one of your foot joints. It could also be an area of swelling from trauma. If it does not hurt/bother you, OK to just monitor.

Not necessarily: If you have ra, the bump could be associated with it. It also could be from a spur or osteoarthritis or a cyst. See a podiatrist.

i walked a 30km path uphill in a single day. i'm flat footed. after the walk, this bony area on the left side of my right foot began hurting. this was on the 7th of nov. and now, on the 6th of dec, this pain hasn't disappeared yet. should i be worried? th

I would be concerned: it sounds like you are referring to your navicular bone. The posterior tibial tendon has an attachment by this bone. This tendon is the one that is involved in flatfoot deformities. do you wear orthotics? the tendon needs to have strain removed from it. Ice the foot or warm water soaks can help but you need to support the arch and take strain off the tendon.

Bony exostoses.: Bony exostostes are bone growths do to bone injury, or arthritis.  The are common, particularly at the tarsonavicular joint.  If there is no pain, i would not worry.

Accepted Answer

Leave it alone: There is no need to treat it. It will remodel on its own with time, admittedly a long time, may be years.

Ankle pain: Is there history of injury?
Worse in Am? Try an ace bandage and ibuprofen fo a day or 2, if not better go to PCP
