Many: Bone marrow makes red cells that carry oxygen , white cells that protect you from infection, and platelets that stop you from bleeding. If bone marrow suppressed you will have anaemia-low red cells cause fatigue, infections since low white cells, and bleeding caused by low platelets.  It can range from no symptoms-mild to severe.  All depends on severity of the suppression.

Bone marrow disease: The symptoms are related to the abnormality of  the bone marrow function -i.e. Decrease production of the blood cell counts-or increase level of blood cells counts  if something supresses bone marrow function-anemia, decrease WBC and platelet can happen. -symptoms will include fatigue, infection, fever, bleeding. If the cell count is too much-clots, fatigue, feeling sluggish  can happen.

malt lymphoma in the thymus does not commonly involve the marrow but it does need to be checked.  Sometimes you don't see any changes or symptoms.  Occasionally you may see a lower white blood count, hemoglobin, or platelet count that suggests involvement.  Good luck.

One can have both.: Lupus (systemic lupus erythematosus) is an autoimmune disorder that can affect any tissue or organ on the body and can cause low blood counts such as what can happen in acute leukemia which is considered a malignancy. Both conditions can occur in one and the same person although uncommon!

Diseased Bone marrow: Mds is a condition, mostly seen in the older age groups(with rare exceptions). It manifests as impaired blood formation typically of more than one lineage(red cell, platelets and white cells). Sometimes it is only anemia which is progressive over a period of months. Diagnosis requires an examiantion of the bone marrow and cytogenetics( on the bone marrow cells). It is best to consult a hematologis.

See below: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, having all the CBC values would have helped. From the information you provided, there is no need for a bone marrow examination.

ive had elevated monocytes for the last 3 months. ive went to a hematologist and she told me to not be concerned unless i experience symptoms. i wanted to ask if i should push for a bone marrow biopsy to rule out malignancy as thats my main concer?

: The best person to decide what tests you need is the hematologist that knows your full history and findings. Making a few vague statements online does not provide anyone with adequate information to change that fact. Share your worries with your doc, or get a second opinion.
