When : When you have such a problem in both arms, some consideration should be given to there being a a single problem at a point in your body at which it could affect both arms. It would be worthwhile to see whether you are having an issue in your neck, such as a herniated disc or arthritis that causes pinching on the nerves that go out to the arms from the spinal cord. It also remains a possibility that there are separate problems in each arm, so it's a good idea to ge tthis checked out. A visit to an orthopaedic surgeon can help you localize, diagnose and hopefully treat your problem. Good luck!

la at 11:51 - 141/80
la at 11:55 - 137/75
ra at 11:53 - 139/76
i took a nap for about 2h 40min and took my bp again:
la at 14:41 - 146/79
ra at 14:45 - 154/85
is this normal?

Likely: If you have any concerns you should have your doctor take your blood pressure in both arms and legs.

Not a concern: The flashing heart shows that the machine detects your pulse. If it doesn't flash, the cuff may not be placed correctly. But you can feel your own pulse in the wrist to know you have one.

i have a question. what is the correct position to check my blood pressure when standing? should my arms be to the side or should it be resting on something like a dresser. the two different positions are yielding different results?

: The correct position to check blood pressure is sitting with the arm relaxed/supported at the heart level. Even more important is allowing for time from previous activities ( at least 5 ) as blood pressure continues to settle for minutes after activities.

BP: If the BP between the two arms is more than 20mmHg difference, this would suggest an obstruction in the inflow to the arm with the lower BP.

Normal: The left arm is closer to the heart,  the right arm is further away from the heart.  The condition of the blood vessel also make a difference.  Generally everybody has a different blood pressure measurement in each arm.  The key is not the 2 being different, the key is the measurement is within acceptable parameters.

Yes: Your arm should be at heart level. Measure your BP after resting at least 5-10 minutes. Take 3 measurements and average them. Recognize that BP is a dynamic parameter that is normal changing all the time. An average BP over many weeks of &gt;140/&gt;90 is elevated.

Sounds pretty close: to normal. Are you left handed? is the Left arm a little bigger in circumference? Regardless, there is not enough of a difference to be concerned.

Right arm is correct: I suspect you have a narrowing or blockage of the left subclavian artery, resulting in a lower "normal" blood pressure reading there. In reality, this blood pressure is inaccurate and your true blood pressure is being recorded in your right arm.  A less likely  explanation would be a severe hardening of the right brachial artery. If you can't feel a pulse at the left wrist , you have a blockage.
