See dentist and PCP: you may have gingivitis cavities, or taking herbs or meds that are causing blood thinning. Have it checked. Don't delay! You oral health is a reflection, and prognostic indicator of your general health &amp; longevity. Infected gum: If you leave bacteria colonies on teeth and gums for more than 48 hrs, you can have an infected, bleeding gums. The fact that bleeding occur when flossing is a sign of that. Please see a dentist for a proper diagnosis.

Probably: Bleeding gums usually is the first sign of local inflammation or problem. If your gum bleeding is related to aggressive brushing and/or flossing you are causing damage to the periodontium.  Would you scrub your hands until they bleed?  Doubt it. 
I tell my patients they are cleaning their teeth not scrubbing the floor. Contact time is more important than pressure or force. Please stop...

This is a form : Of self -mutilation. Physical pain may distract you from emotional pain. It may be self punishment. The blood may excite you sexually.  Bottom line, is that i don't know you so i can't answer the question. Ask yourself what is the payoff for doing it. You wouldn't do it if there wasn't some form of payoff.

See  general dentist: First and foremost is the need for a good diagnosis of the source of the bleeding.  Proper treatment potentially can allow you to keep your teeth.  The bleeding is probably the result of the need for general dental care, but do it.  It can only get worse.
