Biliary reflux : If you have been diagnosed with this, then you may know it is similar to gastric (stomach) reflux. We believe risk factor include alcohol use, caffeine, fatty foods, and obesity. BUT, there is still a lot we don't know about it. We treat it with PPIs, like Prevacid, Prilosec or Nexium (esomeprazole). If that is not helpful, there are motility agents a gastroenterologist can prescribe.

Bile acid reflux?: If you're saying that you have bile acid reflux, there are medications available that can either absorb the aberrant bile acids or can promote the forward flow of bile.  Each of these has their positives and negatives.  These should be discussed with your Gastroenterologist.

Biliary dyskinesia: there is a good chance that removing your gallbladder will improve your symptoms. Also, it will prevent any future, more troublesome, problems with your gallbladder.

Right upper: Right upper abdominal pain can be caused by gall bladder, liver or certain intestinal problems. However since your discomfort us quite positional it may be a muscular problem. I recommend that an abdominal surgeon examine you to check for hernia or other abnormalities. Appropriate tests will be ordered depending upon his/her assessment.

Nonspecific: There are a number of possibilities, including soft tissue inflammation, muscle sprain/strain, facet mediated pain, rib fracture, herniated disc, intrathoracic pathology, etc, as well as pinched nerve and acid reflux as you have stated.  If your symptoms do not improve with time and conservative treatment (i.e. Anti-inflammatory meds), do see a physician.

i have what i believe to be acid reflux / heartburn./ gastritis. the pain is in my upper abdomen and under my rib cage all the way going towards my back. it is an acidic burn feeling. im worried because its very uncomfortable ?

Gerd: This can be reflux, gastritis, ulcer or pancreatitis. There are several other possibilities. See a doctor, If you have black or bloody stool go to the emergency room

Dummy?: Is this the same as a pacifier? If so, then it does not reduce reflux. The cause is not clear, but positioning can reduce reflux. The pacifier is more related to emotional health and bonding.  This simulates the mother's nipple and can cause teeth problems if used to long. Get your doctor advice.

It's cause is blamed on the a lax gastroesophageal shpincter that permits usch regurgitation. Vesicoureteral reflux is regurgitation (backing up) of urine in the bladder into the ureter through the vesicoureteral junction.

Treat it: If acid reflux causes enogh symptoms to affect a comfortable daily eating pattern, then is should be treated. If you try over the counter treatment and get relief, then do it for a short period of time. Then stop med to see if resumes to be a problem. If meds do not help at all, then see your physician.
