Check pulses: Easiest way is to check pulses-  if  you cannot feel pulses on top of foot or behind the bony part of the ankle (on the inside of the ankle)- then suggest an appointment.  Also make sure the foot is warm.   Finally push  on the skin of the toe- should turn white and then back to pink when you release the skin in less than 2 seconds.  Should see your doc if pain with walking more than a few yards.

Comparison: Doctors are using that test to measure the arterial circulation to your legs and feet compared to pressures in your arms. Known as Ankle Brachial index. The closer the numbers in your feet and legs are to the pressures in your arms the better, but diabetes and some other diseases that stiffen your arteries can cause elevated pressures which lead to inaccurate comparison and less reliable test

i discoveredthat my ed condition is caused by arterial insufficiency on the left side of my penis. the right side is ok. is pentoxifyline a lower cost alternative? how about shockwave treatment?

Lower than what?: Lower cost than what? Pentoxiflyline 400 mg 3X a day as a generic meds cost $120 a month and is indicated for claudication, not ED. I'm not aware that either pentoxifyline or shock wave treatment is effective. How was the diagnosis made? If you had an arteriogram, I suspect angioplasty is your best bet, but at your age, 37, I suspect either you have small vessel disease or the dx is wrong.

You must combine a high quality operation with good wound care, especially in patients with diabetic wounds. Without good wound care and optimal medical management, some patients can still lose their leg even with an "open" bypass.

SEE BELOW: Diabetic nerve pain called neuropathy is actually damage to the nerves and can cause a numbness/tingling type feeling in arms or the legs.  

Arterial disease pain-peripheral arterial disease or pad can cause pain in the legs with walking initially and can progress to the point where you have pain at rest and is usually a different type of pain-a dull achy pain.

i had two ultrasounds of my lower extremities and the arterial vascular sonogram stated this. " hemodynamically significant stenosis " what does this mean? i'm worried?

: It means that artery is partially blocked with possibly impaired circulation. You need to see vascular surgeon for a complete evaluation.

You should see a specialist. Can be an achilles injury/ partial tear.

Clarification: Usually description of symptoms should suffice to distinguish. But if you want tests...Arterial disease can be detected based on either ankle bracial index (blood pressure difference between arm and leg) or conventional angiogram. Diabetic nerve damage can be detected using emg. (test using needles and stimulating the nerves).
