my big toe on left foot has been numb for the last month. now my whole left foot is numb in period of last 4 hours. help!

The answer: may "lie" in your lower back....a PINCHED nerve at the L-5/S1 level by a bulging disc.... A neurologic examination (this may be performed by your Primary Care Provider) is indicated. UNILATERAL symptoms usually EXCLUDE nerve disorders!

Toe problems : It could be due to nerve compression either from swelling due to standing or possibly due to some deformity of the foot.  See a doctor for an examination as you may also need referral for test

Not normal....: ... At your age.  Better see a podiatrist to determine if you have some sort of nerve entrapment or local nerve damage.

Could be : the nerves that go to those areas originate in the lower back. It is a bit odd that it is on both legs and in different dermatomes but injuring two parts of your lower back would explain that.

Check for swelling: Numbness is the first sign if you have tissue swelling called lymphedema - check whether foot is swollen - swelling could be because of minor cuts or injury.

Odd sensations: There are a lot of things in that area, that could cause this kind of discomfort.  From arthritis, to sprain, from nerve injury to stress fracture.  Give yourself a couple of days rest and elevate the leg/foot with ice.  Make sure you wear good supportive shoegear (not Sandals or flip-flops!)  If the pain or discomfort continues without improvement ask your PCP for a referral to a podiatrist!

Localized swelling: With pregnancy, you want to watch for any swelling in the lower extremities.  Combine that with hormonal changes that loosen the joints and create instability (perhaps in your case - the lower back and ankles).  Swelling with instability in these joints can create some "pinching" of the nerves leading to the big toe.  Usually self-limiting once delivery occurs.  Talk to your OB about it too.

Pinched nerve: You are probably pinching the nerve between your 2nd & 3rd toes.  Your disc problem is another consideration. See if certain shoes aggravate problem. A shoe insert and or shot between the toes may help.Sometimes the nerve entrapment needs to be released. Sorry, nerve symptoms and problems are hard to decipher & diagnose online -  nerves have a mind of their own (literally).

? Running issue: Your issue could be related to running.  With chronic repetitive trauma like long distance running, you can develop swelling in areas of the leg which can compresses nerves or blood vessels.  I would try to minimize running and ice the leg.  If no improvement, see a doctor.
