my family doctor sent me to a ent for a biopsy for my thyriod and neck mass. they both have small calification. am i looking at surgery ?

Small calcification : Small calcifications are seen in the thyroid in some conditions. Usually they are seen in  psommoma bodies which are a pathological feature seen in papillary thyroid carcinoma   fortunately papillary thyroid cancer is very treatable and has a great chance of cure. Any neck nodes can be removed with a selective neck dissection. The good news is lymph nodes in pap thy cancer do not mean badness.

The : The main question one needs to know is why have you been recommended to have your tonsils removed?  Recurrent tonsillitis is the main reason for recommending tonsillectomy.  Other reasons are tonsillar enlargement leading to airway obstruction and a mass presenting in the tonsil where malignancy may be of concern.  An online evaluation is most difficult.  While it can guess with regards to symptoms and findings, nothing beats a physical examination by your ENT doctor.  Best of luck.

: Taking a BP med in the group angiotensin converting enzyme inhihibitor (ACEi) such as Lisinopril, Enalapril, etc., it is likely the cause. Less common but it also occurs when taking angiotensin receptor blockage (ARB) such as Losartan, Valsartan, etc. If that is the case, change BP med to a different category, cough will resolve in weeks. Pulmonologist is the specialist to see for chronic cough.
