if diagnosed with a benign tumor of the tonsil and i am 49 years old, how often should i see my ent doctor in follow up to the discovery of the tumor?

Every 6 months: I am not sure which tumors of the tonsil are benign.  The most common  problem is inflammation, followed by tumors such as lymphoma or squamous Ca both  of which are malignant.  It is possible to have a minor salivary tumor in that region which is benign but one has to make sure that if there is a mass there that a significant bx was taken.  You should be check 4 mo. followed by every 6 months.

can a ent tell by looking at the size and shape of tonsils  there is a tumor in it? i am concerned because i have 1 tonsil 2+ & other 3+. no testing.

Probably: A tumor of the tonsil has a characteristic appearance and an ENT surgeon could have a suspicion by looking but a biopsy would be required to make a diagnosis.  Most enlarged tonsils are inflammed or infected, not involved with a tumor.  If you are concerned, you should see you local doctor.

4th vent. tumor 2cm in size. my cerebellar tonsils descended 4mm. would tumor account for descended tonsils? is chiari diagnosis immaterial due to tumor dx?

Cerebellar tumor: The cerebellar tumor is the cause of the Chiari malformation (acquired type I) where the cerebellar tonsils are displaced below the foramen Magnum. The tumor can cause of the cerebrospinal fluid pathways to obstruct and lead to hydrocephalus. See a neurosurgeon to discuss the treatment options.

i was recently diagnosed by an ent dr with a papilloma one on my uvulva and left tonsil. i was told to either surgically remove both tonsil or remove by incision the tumor. i'd like to know if its better to choose the 2nd option??

Excision only: Papillomas typically arise off the membranes of the oropharynx and oral cavity and can be easily removed from the tonsil tissue without requiring a tonsillectomy. The procedure is much simpler and, unless you’ve had lots of problems with your tonsils necessitating removal, tonsillectomy is unnecessary and carries higher risks and a much longer recovery.

my breath smells weird. almost like when a person has their tonsils removed. is this in any way a sign of brain tumor or cancer?

Absolutely Not: The vehicle you are driving, commonly called a body, is fantastically complex engineering and most of what is going on inside quite hidden. While there are complex relationships between internal processes & outward appearances, odors, etc, what is near the surface is mostly a result of what is on the surface. The odor of our breath is a function of what’s in the saliva & bacteria living there.

is it easy for a ent dr to see a throat or tonsil tumor? pcp says i have tmj cuz my ear hurts into tonsil area and along lower jaw bone. jaw clicks.

Good advice: Your PCP is giving you good advise. Consult your dentist, an orthodontist or an oral surgeon for help

Tumors in bone: There are many  cysts , benign and malignant rumors that show on dental x- rays.
These are in the upper and lower jaws.
Your dentist is trained on diagnosis and treatment.

Examination: Have an oral surgeon examine you. They are trained to diagnose these types of lesions and take a biopsy if indicated. Avoid searching the internet to diagnose yourself... you'll never get peace of mind.

please explain if it is possible to get a tumor on the roof of your mouth?

Accepted Answer

Yes: Yes it is possible. Not real common. Most common is benign bony growth in middle called a torus. See your dentist if you are worried/suspicious. Good luck.

i have a tumor/mass on the pallet of my mouth..for a few years recently there's tissue growing and bleeds the tissue falls off and comes back ?
