Maybe: Have the spot checked...I am concerned there can be a retained insect part causing all this inflammation. Alternatively some people just react strongly to bites. Try an otc Hydrocortisone and ice the area.

Bee sting: Probably you are not as its been quite a fews hours since the sting. However, bee stings are painful and can get worse . Please see your doctor to determine if you needs additional care.

Possible: While it could be swollen enough that you don't see the stinger, it is also possible there was not one left behind. Not all stinging insects leave the stinger in the skin. So unless you know for sure which type stung you, I wouldn't sorry that you can't find a stinger to remove. Put an ice cube over the red area, take Benadryl (diphenhydramine) if very itchy (Topical anti-itch creams usually don't work well).

Bee sting : A bee sting area often appears red and swollen.  Applying ice and Hydrocortisone cream may help improve the area. If the area worsens or fever develops , or difficulty breathing develops , it requires immediate medical attention.

Phlebitis: This is a medical emergency, you need to go to the emergency room right away as the sting has for some reason got inflammation and possible infection in your veins.

Benedryl: The nasty reactions(breathing pbs) to a bee sting will be evident within 15-20 min if they require er care. Swollen extremities or hives can often be minimized by giving Diphenhydramine (benedryl) in proper doses every 4-6 hrs. If the kid has major sx like abdominal pain & lethargy with the event, a workup by an allergist may be worthwhile soon as rxns can worsen in the future.

Allergic to bees: sounds like an allergic reaction to bees.  Ice the area, keep the bite clean and elevate the leg.  Call your doc and let her know about this.  If this continues to worsen or you have changes in your breathing, go to ER immediately.

Hallmark symptoms: The bee sting and resultant symptoms are all classically related to allergic or histaminic reactions: red, hot, swollen. If your breathing is labored, seek medical attention asap! with no apparent breathing difficulty, try 25-50 mg of Benadryl (diphenhydramine). Good luck.

Yes.: Everyone is a little different on this.  Some get almost no reaction, most gets some minor redness / pain but others get very large local reactions of redness, swelling, pain.  Rare individuals will develop systemic and life threatening reactions within minutes - anaphylaxis -  involving the airways and circulation.  If you develop wheezing, swelling of upper airways or sob see er asap.
