Middle ear effusion: This is more likely due to inflammation and allergy than an infection, but to cover both bases, I suggest an antibiotic and strong antihistamine at bedtime for 5-10 days for relief. This should be followed by skin or blood testing to find out your allergy triggers to avoid and reduce symptoms in the future

: Positional syncope (fainting sensation) is usually an "inner ear" issue.  Get a referral to an ENT specialist for a definitive diagnosis. He/she may order a CT or MRI exam to help determine the cause.

i have had tinnitus in one ear for id say 5 days. no dizziness or balance issues, no flu. its the same ear i was operated on when i was 10 where my ear drum was stitched because there was a hole in it. what would you recommend i do?

See a Dr.: Tinnitus is typically a middle ear problem. It is frequently caused by lack of sleep, depression, anxiety, and stress. Other underlying causes include: Exposure to very loud sounds on a regular basis, ototoxicity from meds (aspirin, diuretics, gentamycin, vincristine. See your Dr if this continues. Testing can be done.

Yes, they can be: Your peripheral balance center is in your ear and is where people most often develop vertigo from. There are some really amazing canals in our inner ears communicate with our brain to let us know where we are positionally. While hearing loss isn't related to this, many other inner ear issues can be related to balance issues.

Somewhat: Certain ear conditions are very strongly affected by diet. Menieres syndrome is the classic one. In general the ear does not like fat, salt, alcohol, tobacco and caffeine.

Yes: Ear problems and balance problems are sometimes associated because the inner ear houses the vestibular (balance) system and the hearing.  If this continues you might want to consult an ENT doctor.

Sinusitis: This may be sinusitis. If it's for the last few days, an antibiotic may help.  Any fevers?  If it's been going on for a while, a CT scan of the sinuses will help elucidate any problems with the sinuses.

The evidence that: your symptoms improve with recumbency suggests that there may be an autonomic dysfunction or peripheral vascular issue. Tilt table testing might be useful. Additionally there are neurological diagnoses (multiple sclerosis) that can present with these symptoms. You should be evaluated by a neurologist if you have not already been.

what does it mean what an otherwise healthy teen (healthy dietr and weight) patient hears noise in their ear, has chronic insomnia, has shortness of breath, has trouble thinking clearly, has memory issues, has dizziness, and has balance issues?

: An imaging study is indicated, and a neurologic or metabolic cause should be considered.  Please have an evaluation and discuss a Pediatric Neurology consultation. Watch for sleep apnea and check your BP standing and lying down. Stay well hydrated and eat a healthy diet.

hx retraction pocket eroded small bones, hearing loss. tympanoplasy not helpful. now fluid behind ear drum, pressure, balance issues. cholesteatoma?

Can't tell : You need an ear surgeon to evaluate you, may ask for more imaging studies before committing to a diagnosis, wish you well.
