Ruptured cyst: It is very common for ovarian cysts to rupture, and at that time, you can have abdominal cramping that feels like a period. This is nothing to worry about. If your pain is difficult to bear, however, or if you have a fever, or nausea/vomiting, then see your doctor. Best wishes.

Yes: Cysts on the rt can leak fluid and cause pain in the pelvis and lower abdomen. You should see your gyn to make sure that there is not a more serious issue developing.

i noticed that for several cycles, i have had pain for up to 5 days before my period. i found out that i had a cyst on my right ovary. will things like heat and midol help with my ovarian cyst pain? my ovarian cysts make menstrual cramps a lot worse.

Sure: Midol and a heating pad are certainly options you can consider. You may want to discuss treatment options for painful periods with your Obgyn. Birth control often helps with menstrual pain. Most ovarian cysts resolve on their own without treatment.

i have menstrual cramps, but only on my left side. i am experiencing tender breasts as well, which i usually get during pms. could the one sided menstrual cramps and pressure be because of my ovarian cysts? is it likely cause for concern?

: Menstrual cramps along with tender breasts at "premenstrual times" can occur normally, and may be due to more ovarian cysts on one side, but this sort of discomfort can be alleviated by using low dose oral bcp's.  Ask your gyn provider about this.

Yes: Ovarian cysts can cause irregular menstrual cycles and painful cramping. A large cyst can twist-sudden onset of severe pain, nausea, and vomiting which is a medical emergency needing immediate attention.  Cysts can also rupture causing sudden pain which also may require immediate attention.  Your symptoms could also be due to other causes.  I recommend following up with your gynecologist.

See a doctor: It can be anything and you need to see your ob/gyn doctor, so a physical exam can be done to determine the actual cause, since your symptoms are so broad. If you feel it's an ovarian cyst, your doctor can determine whether it needs to be imaged, based on your physical, abdominal, and pelvic examination. Your history, onset of current symptoms, recurrences, and palpation will yield best results.
