: If you have typical BV including symptoms (mostly strong vaginal odor, sometimes discharge), you should be treated, probably with metronidazole. However, BV usually does not include inflammation. You should be tested for common STDs, if possibly at risk based on your and any partner's sexual lifestyle. Good luck.

my pap results came back normal but also notes shift of flora suggestive of bacterial vaginosis , does this mean i definitely have bacterial vaginosis? i have no symptoms at all?

: If you have no symptoms you do not need treatment so do not concern about it. However, based on this result you may predispose to bacterial vaginosis in the future. So when you have symptoms such as copious frothy vaginal discharge with fishy odor, you can be treated for BV without the need of testing.

: The reasons HPV sometimes reactivates are not known. This is a normal event and nothing to be worried about. It doesn't indicate any sort of health problem, and as long as HPV testing returns to negative, there is no risk of cancer or other significant health problem.

: See the reply to your previous similar question. Many people with HPV have intermittently positive tests. It's random and usually has no particular explanation. That your doctor advises colposcopy suggests you have not only a positive HPV test, but cellular changes on your Pap smear (dysplasia). Follow her advice! Your bacterial vaginosis is a separate problem, nothing to do with HPV.

regional flora grown pus cells: 2-4/hpf
rbc: 0-1/hpf epithelial cells: 10-12/hpf
bacteria: + budding yeast cells: nil? , is it all normal ?

Any symptoms?: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, there is no cause for concern with the information you provided.

Infection/nml flora.: This can be due to infection, or possibly less than optimal hygeine.  It also might be from the normal flora of the vagina.  It also likely means that you need a repeat pap smear, so the cells can clearly be seen for evaluation.  See your doctor to clear up any possible infection, etc..

Pap: Normal vaginal flora consists of many different bacteria.  The pap smear looks for abnormal cells. There is no need to worry unless abnormal cells are seen.

BV treatment: A pap smear is not a very accurate way to diagnosis bacterial vaginosis. Most Obgyns would not treat BV found on a pap smear unless the patient was having BV symptoms or if the physical exam was consistent with BV. Contact your Obgyn to seek guidance on your specific cases to see if treatment is warranted or not.

Pap for cervical Ca: Pap smear is a test to detect for abnormal cells on your cervix that may be indicative of cervical cancer.

To test for bv, you'd need a culture. It can all be done at the same time, just require different tools.
