Get doc eval: Your symptoms sound like disc disease. A doc can evaluate this and determine if it is a disc, or,other problem causing these problems. Good luck

Variable: Usually with ears over shoulders, shoulders over hips straight line. And find the comfortable position. Keep feet solid on ground too.

See below: When you sit upright, your spine takes on its natural curves and reduces stress on the discs and muscles. When you slouch, you put more pressure on the discs and muscles and this tends to lead to more back pain.

Most commonly: What you are describing is a lumbar paraspinal or iliopsoas strain or spasm at your age. However, there are many other things that can cause this that should be checked by a physician, including but not limited to si joint pain, facet pain, and even discogenic pain that has not infringed on a nerve root yet.  If it is a paraspinal spasm, then it should continuously get better each day, keep walking.

Need evaluation : Back pain could be multifactorial in origin , most of the imo benign in nature . An evaluation by physician is recommended i make a plan of treatment.

Poor Positions: Sitting in front of a laptop can cause lower back pain, especially if you're hunched over or your legs are flexed at the his greater than 90 degrees.  Make sure when working in front of a computer for extended periods of time, the computer is not on your lap and that you are sitting in a chair, not on the floor or couch.

Muscle Sprain: How did it start? Do not do any activity that makes your pain worse. Try OTC pain meds, ice or heating pad. If it does not get better in few days then needs to be evaluated. If you have tingling or numbness or weakness then it nedds urgent attention.

Mechanical pain: Is the commonest cause of low back pain and is offend movement related and settles with rest - and is difficult to treat as one has to keep one's self moving.  However at a young age with low back pain particularly if not injury related then needs to be checked by dr and tests run for other possibilities including urine infection, referred pain from abdominal problem, or even ankylosing spondyl

i have sciatica/back pain occasionally. if i sit down too much it gets worse. whats the best way to avoid this from happening too much?

Start simple: Sciatic/back pain has many possible causes.  The most common is musle/joint related.  So, it is good to stretch your back gently and exercise your back muscles every day.  

When you are in the midst of a particularly bad attack, consider a hot bath/jacuzzi and massage therapy.  

If this doesn't help, see a doctor.

Core strength: Some people exercise, but really don't do mech for their back.  Ideally you would do exercises to keep your core strong.  Also, I would not hesitate to be seen for an accurate diagnosis about the specific cause of your back pain.
