Muscle Sprain: How did it start? Do not do any activity that makes your pain worse. Try OTC pain meds, ice or heating pad. If it does not get better in few days then needs to be evaluated. If you have tingling or numbness or weakness then it nedds urgent attention.

Many possibilities.: Common are disk changes, smoking, sprains of ligaments, muscular strains and spasms, vitamin deficiencies, joint inflammation, altered walking or sitting patterns, lack of sleep, poor circulation in the spinal blood vessels, tumors, aortic aneurysm or dissection, trauma, and spinal deformities. In young women, there are also pregnancy-related causes. See your doctor for definitive diagnosis/cure.
